That all the ones in the dev chat agreed to it does not matter in this case. It only reinforces the thing Nera said already. Such minor things that do not have much impact on the overall gameplay are decided behind closed doors instead of letting the community vote on them. Why is something like this decided deep down below the earth in a dimly lit bunker instead of having the majority of the community have a word in it as well? This would solve the thing with people complaining about such things.

You act like it's some shadowy conspiracy.
A matter of mod design and development was decided in the chat of the mod developers.

Wrong. There will be always complaints.
Part of players complained about the lack of standardization in Rheinland naming scheme for years. Finally devs decided to apply it and chose the English way. If they would go the German way, there would very likely similar thread just with people complaining about how Muenchen sounds weird.
No matter what you do (or even when you don´t do anything actually), there will be always someone complaining. That´s Disco.
Anyway, to be honest this change is just matter of habit in my opinion. Also like it really matters how the system which serves mostly only as a transit route for unlawfuls or few smugglers is named Koeln or Cologne. After all, no one stops people from continuing to call the system Koeln in their roleplay because both names means the same thing.
I dont see problem here , only minor inconvinience that we will have to get used to new name , and , possibly , that some forum RP and wiki info wuld have to be modified to match .
4 pages of discussion whether a stupid system in an aged video game should be called Cologne or Köln which is both pretty much the same.
You guys better fix your priorities.
