And you could only thank Spazzy and Skorak for those admin backed events. It's not only economy balance being ruined with it, but also a PvP one, since we have things like imbalanced armor upgrades given by admins and other nonsense.
@Alley events were ten time more reasoanble at that regard and gave the same amount of activity to the server.
And it's very hard to call me trade/mine or Alley fan.
And currently there are exactly 2 ships on the Server with such an armor upgrade.. so it is not really ruining PvP.
Last words are for fools who have not yet said enough.
If it were killing the economy, you would still need to in some way prove that prices for everything would be affected. Since the introduction of sci data, prices for ships and equipment made by pobs has remained steady. There is no inflation. Scidata is merely a costly commodity because, other than credits, it is only available in finite amounts.
In the end, this is another thread of people crying that they want to have the same shinies as someone who puts in hours to earn them while saying stuff like "I only play one hour a week because of work so I need to be favoured because I can't play as much as player X". Why this is an invalid argument doesn't need to be elaborated on lest I intend to insult your intelligence, Titan. In the end, you do not gain more than shinies from scidata.

Now imagine having those people against you in the fight.

You can still win with skill, sure it might take a little longer but hey guess what - skill still matters. Numbers too.

We are talking about 1v1 fight and a person with averge PvP skills. Having a dozen of PvP aces who can pull this off is hardly conutering the argument that those things are affecting balance in a negative way.
Hard to admit it because it makes it so easy, but yes Titan has a point. I can't help but find it a little silly that me and some other bloke killed 5 people and earned 1 billion from an event that had little participation. There are rewards I definitely want to save up and obtain, but when you need quick cash selling SD is way better than trading.
However, I think the economy is bad even without SD being involved. It needs a big overhaul. As it stands, making money is too easy, too boring, and the items you spend your cash on are too cheap.
I fought wesker and his Cau9 Valor a few days ago with my Cau8 5 cerb 1 heavy treb redemption, be it he had fancy cap code weapons.
His ship out right decimated my own. He had just about half his hp left if i remember when he had finished with me.
And now its like... why tho, guess i'll die.
Even if it is temporary, it is over powered. Sure my kirk brought him to to his knees (till i choked my keys on literally the last second and he then proceeded to let the fighter gun him down lol) but that was because his load out. Sci data isn't only crashing the economy it also seems to be introducing overpowered pieces of equipment
