Spot on. ID specs are designed to limit those who should, or should not have a 5000 cargo ship (Smugglers, pirates et al). It is House rules that restrict goods through their territory, and if you take a risk and lose your load? Tough!

yes this
also OSC needs a 5k cargo ship to be competitive, to bad the Passenger Superliner project died
IMO there should be either OF only 10k gigatransports but FLHook preventing those from collecting ore or an event plugin associated with shipping IDs for regular commodities.
Just remind my 5 years old suggestion of restricting commodities to IDs and ships. And that Ore gets own transport "role".
Like
OSC ID+Liner can transport Passengers
Kruger ID+Ore Transport can transport ore

Which was planned for Zoners only ofc (cuz they can't dock on House Space with 5kers) but I realy like the idea of giving those factions like you mentioned a buff like that (or even a +new Transport). So yeah +1 from my side.
Im still sad by the fact that these didn't replace the current Zoner caps while keeping their capship role, cuz these are works of art.
As for the topic at hand, I doubt nerfing mining factions will have a positive effect on their populations. Giving the pure shipping factions a battleship sized supertransport seems like a safer choice in that regard.
This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.
