I mean this is what makes such instakills even worse.

Just classify your fighter as a transport. Get except from being engaged by caps. (^:

They're infinitely easier to do than a SNAC, and even worse is that unlike a bomber, a cruiser is (can be) an absolute curbstomp counter to a snub especially when backed up by other ships. A cruiser should not be able to reap snub kills in absolute safety.
I'm guessing if the SNAC got fixed you wouldn't be complaining then? If a snub gets LMed by a cruiser, they either deserved it or were being ganked anyway. This not even factoring in how iffy it can be to even hit a snub with an LM if you're not at point blank range.

Snubs are bad anyway.
Bombers at least have the counter-play of not being several-hundred units of hull with capital armour.
I don't have a formed opinion whether or not LM instakill capability as it is now is good.
If the snub pilot is concentrated and has a good sense of surrounding ships (in particular, cruiser course and distance to it), he can avoid being killed for a long period of time. It's generally harder than not being hit by a SNAC in group fight, but if you put some effort into your flying it will pay off.
