Lock Capital Ships to Zone of Influence on Independent IDs

Newcomers buy a cool ship, want to take it for a spin, do some missions, explore. You can always RP a renegade captain fleeing or JD malfunction.
So what that they can't attack anyone first. Adding complexity to all IDs is not the way to go to grow the game imo

Isn't it more detrimental to the new player experience if they are misled about the role of a ship and ID?

And renegade/defector RP is typically poor, generally speaking. Case by case restrictions is even more complicated than a single line that is already standardized across several existing IDs.

There's no good reason for why a (ie) Federal ID'd Bismark is farming missions in Omicron Delta, when it should be on the frontlines fighting the civil war in Rheinland.

The people who eventually do have to meet and deal with them... Edge Worlds factions have always expressed this is an annoying issue they've had to deal with long before the Delta ooRP mess started to happen. It's only now that the issue is much more public it has gained attention.

The solution is quite simple- give something interesting for cap factions to do in their ZOI. Most of "understanding" players shall remain within their ZOI. Even if they get disappointed with their ship/faction, they'll be able to do some missions to earn back some cash spend on their ship.

Players who doesn't care about RP, lore and even common sense will continue doing things like that. You rly can't disable this.

They have plenty of interesting things to do in their ZoI - more to do than the Omicrons I would argue. It's just complete ignorance of roleplay and a desire to shoot Nomads. A hard restriction that's sanctionable if broken would certainly have a significant impact in disabling this - you don't see Core, Order or Coalition IDs doing missions in New York for example.

If I'm not mistaking, there was a line in IDs, stating ZOI. I don't remember version of mod which had this feature.
In generally, it could be written like: Cannot leave respected ZOI on cruiser or larger.

Guess, it's gona be hard to find even more clear and simple way of delivering information for players.

Then report or tell them what they're doing is breaking their ID, that's the point. It's not a mechanical restriction like what Zoner Whales have for IDs, but it does significantly deter people from that behavior. It's doesn't stop it happening entirely, but practically speaking it is 99% effective. I think since I requested the restriction for The Core ID 6 years ago, I've only seen one person get sanctioned for breaking it, and two Makos in the open breaking the line before informing them about it.

And if the harmless solo Indie wasn't there I'd have a boring afternoon. I'd say only restrict people when it actually becomes disruptive, with cap Zoi it really is only 1 maybe a couple more areas ingame

I saw that same ship in Gallia silently attacking things without notice. I'm not attacking your roleplay but come on dude, just read the logs from QAR itself they're hardly that of high-quality RP that should be encouraged.

People roleplay in different ways, and there are countless official faction members that /1 /2 fire on a RP server. If you never do that yourself, fair and I applaud you.

I don't see anything wrong with a solo coalition Russian guy having fun head on solo attacking Manhattan NPCs, dying and respawning back in Coalition.

Now if there were constantly fleets of them shooting down people, ok, staff needs to act and they prevented that with the ID line, but that just isn't the case in 99% of cases

The guy was breaking the rules and hardly following his roleplay. I'm not sure what argument you're trying to make. Are you saying we should justify and allow stupidity, even if it breaks or almost breaks the rules?
