A normal pew game is fun because you play it just for pew. This is a RolePlay server. RP games are fun because your actions write the story and you, indeed, have a Role in this story. Everyone has a Role in the course of a RPG story, as players and as admins, the "Dungeon masters". That's the difference between a normal PvP server (Like the ancient Hamburg city) and a RP server like Discovery and that's why there's the rant about the fixed outcome. If the game loses his RP part ingame, this mod and this server can't be named "RolePlay server" but only a server, where, indeed, you log only for combat (mostly), trade, mining without caring about the world that surrounds you.
Edit: Uh-Oh, page reloaded and GM message appeared. Sorry!

I say the same for those who insist the only way to be happy is kill everyone you engage, and are willing to change the game to make it easier for you. On that note, removing all chance of using a cloak to escape, which is their primary use everywhere esle in space/scifi stories, is the cowardly act. Its because when I had 3 guys on me and they forget to CD for 10 seconds I could still taunt them. Better change the stats so we're not losers! Pathetic! I guess it doesn't matter if we can't actually spy with them, or there is nothing going on but 'no cloaks' events/ fixed wars. I actually wasn't using them to ambush, only to try to escape, which is allowed btw, denying a victory is also a victory. In 1v1 I'd likley fight, 3 v 1 and cloak if they lose track. Hint, it all could have been spared by the lazy players setting a weapons group to include their CD via a hotkey. One tap and every time you click to fire a CD comes out. If I escaped it was their fault, 10 seconds is more than ample for more than one pursuer to cd someone. Tell me again who can't handle losing around here?
Its the same for the simulated wars here, set up an in-game conflict and let players play around it, those who log just for short term fun can still do so. Its having real scenarios to play into pvp and rp wise that used to draw people here to play round the clock. People can handle losing, no battle outcome has to be an instant catastrophe. There really can't be any player driven battle outcome for these wars? I thought the point of having them was to drive activity, so what does it matter how a war ends? So what if Kusari had attacked Gallia and it was repelled. That stuff could be happening more often and if every once in a while it might become a big war, if big player achievements are made, in theory, laid out by the devs/GM's! I.E. successfully sieging a base/ship holding a trade lane junction.
Nice small brawls today, I expect fleet fights to pick up (come on guys)
Got myself 2 bret caps
I always thought they were ugly but when you fly them they handle and look pretty good!
Mined myself when I desperately nukerammed Calixte.Sauveterre (Enclave if not obvious) and took him with myself. My shield was online when I dropped my mine, but Sauveterre skillfully brought it down in time. Blue and 10 mils for him, please. He was a bit mad about it, I hope he realises it wasn't intentional.
