Idk about you, but if I was a new player and I stumbled upon an event and was met with [08.08.2021 18:19:31] HS>Reconquista: // if yuo haven't registered, stay out
and even AFTER it's done I cannot interact with them, it's pretty disruptive.
I wouldn't want to play a game where I am punished for actually trying to play it and immerse myself in it. Reading forums shouldn't be mandatory to play this game.
Well, I was in the middle of a battle. Otherwise I might have phrased it a bit more diplomatically.
There were quite a few onlookers who could have informed the new guy, instead of just chattering on the sidelines like a pack of ooRP hyenas.

You give this community way too much credit in using common sense and common decency lol. It's the reason why a thread like this already as big as it is. It has to be a rule or else players will exploit it even at the cost of fun and entertainment. Sad but true!

Thanks, fixed.
One thing though, I don't understand the reason why people feel like they're entitled to protection /after/ the event has ended though?
What's the funny reason that people get to be invulnerable and basically stay as out of roleplay entities even after their little circlejerk has ended
Not sure what circlejerk you are talking about. Community events are open for everyone to take part in - make a ship and sign up!
Unlike closed circlejerk groups of people that get together, look up the event on the forum and in advance organize a masslog to disrupt it.
I think registration events are detrimental to the server. Registration seems to be regarded as a medal, but that usually comes after you participate in a 'battle'.
The concern with balance on two sides is quaint, but the wrong concern in general. When people see an event they just might want to show up, so registration usually does mean locking down a system or area, where people would come to watch or join. I always felt registration just pushes away most people that would show up last minute. Long story short, registration events don't do anything for server population in general. Having a battle to jump in on used to be what people would log for, most don't really want to register in advance just to make sure they don't fight an uneven battle. Helping a side gain numbers and win should be the goal! It can happen to either side.
Events should be to pump some life into the server, used to get people online. When events are regarding a real issue, with real stuff at stake, people will fight for that issue regardless of the odds being against them, like in reality. To me, events only make sense if they are just to start things off and let more and more show up. Since when did space turn into a midieval space jousting battlefield with even amounts of knights on either side? So there is a way for events to really bring people in and online, registration is just another barrier to getting actual functionality out of the server.
There should be nothing on the server people would be kept from, if your side winds up outnumbered, there's always the next battle. Ban registration, have only open events over serious issues and we'll start seeing some real action going on again.
Here's a suggestion, bring in that FR6 and battle/siege events would be open to all, ongoing and regular occurances that unfold according to an active story... and always provide a reason to join the fight and keep fighting despite being outgunned or outnumbered. Just make an important issue and let people show up based on how much they care.

When is the last time you actually played? The idea behind registration events is for an attempt in fairness. I think most people can agree that the more fair a battle is, the more fun it is. I can bring up two very recent examples:
Saturday (or maybe friday) I was on HS>El_Cid cruising through liberty mapping, I notice that NY seems to be getting busy, and since I'm in the area I head over. Turns out a GC transport was getting questioned by the "authorities". Folks start to gather, Navy, Insurgency, OC, and rogues. A battle ensues, with the unlawful side severely out-gunned. We have a running battle and are wiped out. Fairly expected in liberty, you don't show up in NY and not expect half a dozen caps to be dropped on your head.
Yesterday, a planned event. Both sides had roughly equal numbers and strength. A battle ensues, and it's much more of an even affair (at least until casualties started to pile). Had the xenos who showed up attacked from the beginning, it would have been a massacre. I think I speak for most of us when I say that the planned battle was a lot more fun for those involved. Winning wasn't the goal, fun was the goal.
It's true that planned battles aren't realistic, but that's true for everything in Discovery.

You are continually crashing unrelated threads with this. Further instances will see your posts removed.

Keep it where it's relevant.
I'm sure you believe that but its just an excuse to silence me, what difference does it make, do I not seem serious? This notion of off topic is thin at best, its not unrelated, its all freelancer we're talking about. You shouldn't be removing posts unless its clearly about nothing to so with the game or mod, etc. So, go ahead, but that makes it fairly obvious you're just using your position to manipulate the coversation, and what I said was on topic and relevant to the subject. In fact this has happened a few times where you people use that excuse, but I'm never off topic really, you just have nothing to shut me up and will use what you can I guess. That's all I'll say on the matter.
