I just got an update message from Microsoft that I'm able to download and install Windows 11. As i'm not tech savvy i wanted a bit of info on how Disco runs on the new Win version.
Any advice from win 11 users would be appreciated.
I wouldn't recommend Windows 11 just yet. By the looks of it there's several compatibility issues, maybe performance issues as well. Might be wise to remain at Windows 10 for a while longer.
Just as Goliath covered it, I wouldn't recommend it either.
In my opinion, it's too early to switch to 11; if I were you, I'd wait for it to get fully patched and compatible with all (or at least most) of the software that's out there before going to 11.
I really want to post a "Spinal Tap" reference here . . .
"It's still the same volume as 10."
"Yeah, but this one goes to 11!"
That's what I think of 11.

I've been using it for a while now, and I am quite positive. I haven't experienced any compatibility issues with neither games nor other software. Performance in gaming hasn't been noticably different and Discovery works just fine. Easy and fast to install.
All-in-all it's a desperately needed new coat of paint, it's the biggest step up in terms of UI since the 3.11->Windows 95 update. The desktop is more akin to things like macOS or Linux' KDE and is a massive improvement. Icons and text looks a lot smoother too, finally bringing Windows on par with aforementioned OS's and desktop environments.
Unless you are using specialist software that might not be fully compatible, I'd go for it. Even more so if you are already used to other UI's than the Windows 95 style setup Microsoft has been pushing out for almost 3 decades.

Well said.

Are they still using CleanType when better alternatives exist?

Yeah, fake news, my bad. It's the same ClearType thing as Windows 10, I looked it up and also looked at some Windows 10 screenshots, it's exactly the same.
