That i like!, and if you have a id like smuggler then have no iff or then it goes to be the most friendly faction ( like junkers), since if you have a smuggler iff, it gives it totally away, and would be pointless . Getting it to work right might be hard though... Mercanary Iff would be nice however but i doubt we will get one for now:(but heck, i might be wrong.

As much as that is an awesome idea.... IFFs are hardcoded into FL I think, so its not possible :'( however.... FLHook may be able to do that idea, dunno though.
Yep. Hence why i said it probably be hard to do, but i suggest we wait for the new mod and then carry this discussion after that:P

Actually it's quite possible and it has been done already. A character's reputations and alignment (most friendly faction if any) are stored in its file and (conveniently) so does his mounted ID equipment (if any:unsure:). What has been done in this case is match each known ID to a reputation's profile and/or an alignment and then scrutinize each character's file for an ID and make sure everything matches.
There are some problems associated with doing that, though. Mostly with forcing a reputation upon a character regardless of his particular story. Also, this is something that most likely would need to be done while the character was offline (server restart periods), because you'd have to meddle directly with the character's file outside of the game's scope. Maybe this problem isn't pertinent if the same thing can be achieved through FLHook, but I wouldn't know as I haven't studied it's SDK.
Anyway, there's an overall sentiment against forcing reputation onto a character based on its ID that I don't see (and quite agree there) being ignored anytime soon.

But if it's only the tag being forced, I can't see any sensible objection. LSF ID? Ok, forced LSF IFF - but no other rep changes, not even LPI and LN.
If it's possible to forcibly change an entire rep sheet, shouldn't it be possible to forcibly change just one faction's rep?

Solution to the big fights ... use the group function ... those who show purple on your HUD are your friends ... everyone else is enemy.
But I do like the IFF being tied to the ID. Generics should be without IFF.
