you can find your faction colleagues / friends / co-rp-ers thanks to this. of course it can be abused to hunt someone down, but then again, there are means of doing that. for example bounty hunter would have some sort of system to track down their targets.
plus i dont know what are you complaining about, since you used it to evade the trap. you did the oorp thingy in here.
if you want to keep your game in rp, you wont use it for such purposes.
seriously. i use this to find people i want/need to rp with. not to find out if there are 7 pirates waiting for me in omega 41 when im on my trader character.
i undocked from a jh in leeds and 5 corsair ships were waiting there. 3 bombers and 2 titans with codes. so what? it's rp.

Not everyone do that dude... This "system" is mainly used to meta gaming.
Well, this isnt an inocent discution. In some sort of way is about metagaming.
Knowing that a player is on X system with some char and you want to find him isnt metagaming? For exemple, you are a bounty hunter and you want to find some target but you are on another char, you realize the player is on a system. you dock, change char and go in his path. isnt this metagaming? i dont want to be a rant or anything but if you removed this system location it could get this even. at least more fair. you may use RP to track your target.
like i said i like the idea of removing the system location, or at least try it for a week or so.
That would be interesting if it was done. Would bring a big element of surprise and scouting would become very important then. Right now people don't really scout up the area ahead, they just open up chat window and check up who is in next system. Perhaps seeing who is in adjacent systems isn't bad but we all know people use it to go half across Sirius to hunt down specific targets. I'd say it'll add a lot to tactical factor. I'm not sure if it's technically possible, that kind of stuff is more in Canon's area, but if it's possible it might be interesting to try it out for a while and see how things will change.
i dont know. i dont approve of this. it it goes away, fine, the game will go on, there are other ways.
i want to emphasize that a move like this wont stop meta gaming. it will probably make it harder in the short run, but people will eventually find something else. (me thinks)
