On the topic of shields, interesting things can be done with a shield. For instance, one with almost no strength, but a quick restore...500 shield strength, two seconds down, or some smaller fraction...instead of a shield, then, something that deflects some shots, but not all shots, and still does, more or less, the same thing as a standard shield. Likely be better, too, at avoiding the larger weapons.
as far as the tech being to like human tech...I agree, and you can roll out the 'game mechanics' argument, but I'd argue its a balance argument...that there are many varied and strange things we can do, but that the further they diverge, the harder they are to balance. Nomad weaponry could, for example, be a set of swarm pods, guns with area affect blasts, etc. Things could be created to make them highly divergent from humans...but then you'd have to balance them, consider the strengths, and otherwise give the devs a headache.
Speaking of which, I do like that idea of a nomad missile being more a swarm pod than a missile launcher. Possible to explain it away in a purely biological manner (though I understand that the keepers have moved far away from that approach), and, frankly, it would be neat.
So, here I stand, in full agreement with where did it run...It would be awesome if Nomad Equipment took some wild divergences from the human tech of disco in game mechanics terms. While imagination is great, when it comes down to a PVP fight, an odd weapon could mean oodles of fun, for both sides. New strategies, new fights, new thoughts.

Alright, I want to know what it is then? Mindshare doesn't prove it either, rather make it class biased society. And similiar to ants more likely. But agian, despite the social behaviuor of them, they are primitive creatures.
Well isntead of flaiming me unselie made really good points. No I don't want to nerf them. But they are just to much human like !
Now about the balance, some things could be kept overpowered since, they are more advanced on technology.
Quote:If nomads are so advanced how you tend to beleive, why then they copie human tech in the first place?
sorry i dont understand...
They copy human tech? How? Because it isnt in game capabilities, to develop ship, which doesnt work like human ship (nanos/bateries shields) ?
Those are just pvp factors. In RP those arent "Human inspired shields" not "Human tech nanobots".
Whatever it is, it has the same function as human nanos shields.
Carnage itself flying within void... Proud cardihead ever since 2008...
You all gonna eat cardi!

I could say the same about dolphins.
Are they primitive? No. They're the smartest creatures on the planet, along with rats.
Intelligence is not primitivity.
Amoebae - primitive
Dolphins/Rat - not primitive
A lot of things are simply limited by the game engine and mod constraints as to what can be put into Discovery. This is no longer vanilla Freelancer, this is Discovery and a lot of things have changed around, simple as.
Now regarding primitive lifeform, please entertain me about that. I'm anxious to hear that so-called "proof".
But bottom line is that it's just a trolling bait thread, nothing more. It might provide mild entertainment for a while, but given such weak head start of yours I seriously doubt there will be anything substantial. So let's play then, shall we?

It's even explain in single player campaign. They have this parasitical nature, technology included.
Quote:The Veil thing actually just looks like a rp which was made to justify the shielding on the nomad ship. Sorry but. really it looks like it. Actualy only thing wich makes it diffrent it's the name and interpretation. So I do not make any mistake calling it a shield.
You are free to disagree but that doesn't change a thing. So here you simply don't like the idea, that's fine, I have no intention to make every idea and concept liked by everyone.
Quote:By saying real nomad stuff I ment something which is not made by dev team and later a rp was created just to justify the balance. It should be the opposite if you ask me. Not really rpish from my point of view.
A lot of things are made by dev team, so what? Again, that is your opinion to which you are entitled of course, but that opinion is meaningless and highly impractical.
So far you haven't provided any real and working alternative, until you do so and come up with full statistics, game code and everything works out of the box I'm afraid this is going nowhere. So there you are - you can continue to argue, if you want to, but it'll be completely pointless and will not result in anything.

That would be neat if they had their own unique array of weapons and equipment that is distinctive from global set, but unfortunately it becomes a hell for balancing. Hence why missiles, shields, essential weaponry (i.e. supernova cannon) are 1:1 copies of their global counterparts with merely graphics/sounds modified for visual effect.
' Wrote:Dolphins, they are just animals. And .. quite similiar as I see nomads from my perspective, becouse I do not see any key diffrence from animals.
Just fighting for a resources and place to breed. While yes, they have potencial, but the real outcome of it is not known.
I see no similarity here at all. Your perspective is deliberately narrow-minded to say the very least, clearly shows you haven't even barely touched the lore. Unless, like I still consider, this is a troll baiting thread, you are either a liar or just happen to be terminally ignorant, or may be both.
If something is "just an animal" that makes it primitive, though it might be a very, very complex and intelligent organism.
That would suggest we're basing "primitivism" not on the biological meaning but on the technological meaning.
Then again, you said this isn't about about technological primitivism, right?
I'm quite confused... which are we talking about here?
