You're asking about the problem with unstated rules that new players are blissfully unaware of until they get flamed about them?

(sigh) I never personally resort to botting if my opponent doesn't do it first... That's just me, turnrned up on the mod quite recently in fact...

tja The matter needs a solution surely.

Imo, freelancer is closest in spirit to WW2 naval warfare. On the Pacific more specifically. Fighters/bombers when in number could take out anything without riskig the loss of their carrier. Battleships became pretty much useless heaps of steel. However, when a battleship got close enough to use its heavy guns (insert big explosion sound here)...MASSACRE! The big cap is a tough target because of its durability and airplanes can take it out only when in number. However, imo this superiority in numbers shouldn't be simulated by making the death count higher fr fighters. They are already hard enough to fight with. Hitting one is near-miracle when in a battleship not armed with missles. And even with them, maybe 2 out of 100 hit the target. I remember at Chugoku some time ago... Damn good fight thanks to Nova PG's kindness. I had my hand all wet, trying to hit one, lousy fighter, while commanding Nemesis. They on the other hand could keep my shield down and waited for Hellboud to arrive (or just kept trying to kill me, when Hellbound arrived, dunno) By that time I was out of bots and fell to the phantom Osiris, which enjoyed a full supply of thereof. Almost a textbook example, of how the thing should work. Fighters don't need to be allowed 3 deaths, they are hard enough already and can keep anything, no matter how big busy and wait patiently for something hevier to roll in and finish the job.

1 Death rule: More like real life..1 death,, and you are done in this fight

3 Death Rule VS Capships: good, work very well,,but 3 fighter can take down a Battleship is crazy..a battleship should give 10 fighter with no chance........(how big is a fighter..how big is a battleship..)

Bots/Bats Lower on Caps:well...if do this...Battleship should much stronger than now...FIghter's bots and bats like infinite...can repair them self like 3 or 4 tmies.......for battleships.....use 1 time bots and bats and don't have any more bots and bats....

And,nightfall.....you always want fighters have chance to win Battleship...i guss you just want to let a Battleship become a Super huge, heavy FIGHTER.......

I think If anything the fighters bots and bats should be increased. A fighter can only recharge its sheild and hull once. They should make it so you have enough to do it 3 or 4 times.

I'll play the game which ever way the admins/Igiss decide. I have learnt one thing about Freelancer with cap ships, and that is that there will never be a balance. One class of ship will turn out to be superior for different things.

When I joined the server, Bombers were the 'must have' for pirating, due to manouverability and power. Now they have lost that. They turn like gunboats... so what happened? Every pirate and his dog ditched the bomber and bought a gunboat.

Then when these pirates entered house military systems, the military PC factions bought cruisers/destroyers to protect themselves. (I do see this as reasonable as the pirates often outnumber the lawfuls.)

And so on and so forth until everyone had a battleship to play with.

Now. Here is my prediction as to what will happen:

1 death rule for all, everyone will by the biggest ship they can possibly write into their RP (sometimes not) and we may aswell do away with fighters

3 death rule for all, see above. It's exactly the same situation, just prolonging the fight.

1 death rule with less B&B, the bombers will rule again and this discussion will be brought up again in another 2 months once we're fed up of all the taiidans/rheinland bombers running amock on the server.



I'll say again, I'll play in which ever way the admins/Igiss decide, because I can guarantee that it will go in one big circle until we're back in the same position

As Zepphos so ably stated, it does seem to be a case of the snake chasing its tail...

Today in Kusari, "deciding ahead" seemed to work fairly well. We got popped, we left the field. Of course, I worked like Thud to try to keep the battle "even" before the event as well. Nova PG came with a reasonable number and mix. I wanted us to meet them on reasonably equal terms, to keep it fun and avoid finger-pointing and name-calling during and after. You big guys, go find your own party. Heh.

And one day, one day, I'll have a decent combat-capable connection again! (Prays to Eris.)

man,,,,2 ships and is not in the same class is impossible to balance..only can balance between Battleship to Battleship,Fighter to Fighter.so on......and now, Igiss make Battleship,Cruiser,Gunboat,Fighter as same class: Fighter...
Fighter=Light Fighter
GB =Fighter
Cruiser =Heavy Fighter
Battleship =Very Heavy Fighter...
that's what the ship "balance" looks like in Discovery MOD.......

Lancer, You are not maing any sense...A battleship is NOTHING like a fighter. Neither are Cruisers or GB's.
