' Wrote:Coin, I'm a lore-lancer. I can't look at Molly being good to his natural enemy without letting a tear fall.
try to think of it as death by a thousand papercuts: garda dont tax the molly miners, but do tax the BMM, and the MMC undercut the bmm. bmm bleed both ways. before trying to slay the beast, weaken it first.
Altering the lore-based hatred for your faction's benefits isn't a good idea.
Just compare BMM - an industrial giant, in fact, the biggest corporation in Bretonia to Mollys - a rather small group of separatists, surrounded by the hostile territory in Dublin, limited in resources and fighting their war with long odds. While MMC can't provide a 1/30 (Just an abstract number) of the Gold Ore flow from BMM facilities and even IMG is meant to only dream about operating in BMM's high grade fields; allowing BMM to operate freely with only paying a certain 'tax' is somehow a waiver of claim to achieving something in Dublin. Even with daily Molly raids on BMM operations, they still can't match the power of their opponent, backed by a whole Bretonian Army.
In that case it's not a papercut or weakening and even not a soviet 'let's thrown our bodies on that tank and make it stop' - it's just denial to play according to faction traits that you're not able to change.

I agree fully to the ingame reality presented here. IMG, MMC, Mollys in general... we are all underdogs. And that defines our role (which is everything I'm looking for). It's not about ingame power, owning the system, it's the role of challenging the Goliath... being David. To use a popular image.
You get it all wrong, guys. And I keep wondering why.
Perhaps it would help to not see each other as enemies but as partners in game.
BMM is useless without people to harrass it. An unchallenged company has no roleplay worth (except for cash-farmers). So their representative should ensure that the contact with Mollys is good (on an OORP level). And then go and shoot/pirate/threaten/blackmail the heck out of the other party ingame.
Same goes for Mollys... I have the feeling that players see each other as "the enemy". It doesn't work like that. The players must work together in order to make character play against each other possible.
Accusations, threats, ways of hurting the other party more efficiently are not helpful. They heat an environment of OORP tension, where you really want OORP relaxedness and Inrp tension.
I have the feeling that this is a problem in here.
Molly rags on the miner, telling him how he's destroying all that's true and grand about Dublin. That he's treading roughshod across the dreams and territories of a sovereign people.
Miner says to Molly, Ah, but we're chartered to be here, by the Queen herself, and all this space is her demense.
Molly says to miner, Your Queen is not acknowledged here, her laws aren't ours, and she's welcome to come herself to try and enforce them.
The miner says to the Molly, she'd love to, but she sent that battleship there instead. It has solaris turrets. Enjoy!
Molly says to the miner, if I'll go down, you'll go down also you dark-hearted son of a smog-sucker!
Miner says to the Molly in a pm //Yeah, but you can't, you haven't demanded anything from me. Feel free to though.
Molly says to the miner, Drop all your cargo, or face obliteration, pawn of the oppressors!
Battleship says OLOLOLOLOL SOLARIS ))))
Okay okay- Battleship really says You bothering the nice gennleman, mister Molly?
Molly says to them both, Probly.
Battleships says to the Molly, engagbing.

Forcing Mollies to demand credits/ore, instead of allowing them to commit an act of terrorism seems a little restrictive, considering all the lore and -most- of the ID suggests that's what the Molly really should be doing with his time.
I don't hate the player, I'm annoyed by the counter-intuitive nature of the server rules in this instance.

Give BMM something compelling then rulewise. because as it stands, Gaians are already a big enough problem. having mollys jump in and just pew pew pew with
"BMM! engaging!" isn't going to make the environment any better.
"the dublin split" is just an RP suggestion, it doesnt have to be followed. all what matters is what BAF considers for BMM and IMG. mollys can go wherever, its just the BAF isn't going to treat mollys nice in BAF territory.
