I'd be careful to say that your faction doesn't have any strong RP without the mining, that doesn't talk good about you.
Mining faction or Mining ore faction? Because mining was there before the Ore commodities were created, and it was profitable, not like Ore, but still good as trading if done well.
I think twice before making a certain move with all my chars, dynamic RP experiences are there without mining, maybe this time will make you see that.
If you want to think so white and black, there should be 3 factions in all the server. Pirates, Traders and Police. BMM is as good as the people playing it.

I told you BMM isn't a trading faction! what part of that is so hard to understand? just because you see BMM trade NPCs doesnt mean the should be there!

a whole lot of important BMM goods need to be taken from bases they are not allowed to land on per ID, now this can be absolved RP wise, but this shouldnt be necessary.

That and Bowex is by far the superior choice over BMM without mining. Tell me why I should choose BMM over Bowex with mining disabled?

for lols and PvP fights in tau-23 and Dublin? that gets old. and BMM has a severe disadvantage there anyway


Its no secret that i'm new to BMM. Ive inherited a completely dead faction and am struggling to bring it back up. Now im basically told that 700m worth of our infrastructure needs to be thrown out, and now we need to become a trading faction, one that Bowex should be doing in RolePlay anyway.

be creative you say? how? BMM is in the worst situation RP wise. It has a severe amount of limitation and not too many people are keen on joining it for the lulz


but that aside, I didn't know about Gold (non-ore) mining. this exists with the disabling of the mod? what are the yields? why shouldn't i just power trade off of Bowex and Graves Station?

It's math:

I think we are missing one key thing : if you love mining for RP purposes cuz you are BMM or IMG or another mining faction, you will mine if it is nerfed a bit.

If you are just trying to grind to get a lolcap, you will now trade instead.

So if we nerf it a bit, the powerminers dissappear, and the powertraders appear, but at least they are spread all over Sirius.

The current weighted average of the nerf is 20% in this poll if you do the math

ie,

(X1)100% + (X2)0% + (X3)75% + X4(50%)

where Xi is the vote share of each option

then divide by 4

Then take result and deduct from 100%

You get the weighted average where proportion of votes determines the proportion of nerf.

Which is where i suspected the correct nerf should be all along

Hey Cannon.

I think a mining nerf to bring the profits in line with high end trading is an ideal move for the present. Miners will still have an advantage over traders in the form of escorts being able to generate funds. I believe this will balance out their disadvantages.

I believe that these prices should be re-evaluated come the release of 4.86 in 2029 to stand in line with those of the revised commercial model which is being released.

I feel that this will reduce the overall saturation of miners and restore a measure of credibility to trading in addition to paving the way for a natural introduction of the updated mining fields without further disrupting or compromising trade factions/the work invested.

That being said the mining mod needs to be turned back on. The mistake isn't with the mod anymore than it is with any form of player interaction. The mistake was in leaving it cranked so high when it should have been turned down 9 months ago.

Then create one. Adapt instead of Q_Q'ing. Sirius is bigger than Dublin, Tau 23 or Omega 7/11. Interact with other people, start trading, start escorting, etc. Get out of the house and start interacting with other people instead of sitting in a damn field and shooting rocks all day while running to Essex whenever a pirate comes. All your RP comes from hugging Essex and calling the pirates cowards because they don't come closer

The only way to move forward is to work. DHC raised its member count and activity exponentially with the mining field 6k away from the hessian guard system and with no Essex to cover our backs. All you need is creativity and ambition


Also:

BMM is as good as the people playing it.

1 idiot trading is way better than 11203 morons mining.

Because those 11203 morons mining switch to 11200 gunboats and there we go again. Add that the real lawfuls (those who play those chars not because they have to protect their miners) have to deal with those 11200 morons.

Do I have to mention how relations between OCs and IMGs are in Tau 23? How many problems have been there, how much it escalated since the mining mod?

Lobster, you are one of the good players, but I can't believe you complain because they turned off Ore mining.

Mining is still there, less profitable, like many other things which are not profitable. If you only mine for the credits, then how's that not greedy?

More Credits = More problems.




Back on 4.84, after someone changed all the trading routes, which is when I joined, it took a while to anyone to get money for a ship, routes were not that profitable, and you had to work a lot. And people did it with a smile in the face, sure there were problems, but sure less problems than now.


Why is there a hurry to get so many credits rigth now?


Maybe I rushed my thoughts, maybe turning it off is bad.

But denying that it causes a lot more troubles than before, is being a part of the problem.

I think some of you are missing the points that some of the mining faction leaders are making.

Why be in the GMS, Kruger, BMM, IMG, or DSE (kinda) if mining doesn't exist? They are not trading factions in role play. IDF, RepEx, Universal, Bowex are the shipping companies for the houses.

Why have so many damn trading faction? Why? Why have factions that at their core are mere copies of each other?

I'm not saying to not nerf mining to balance it to trading. I'm merely trying to make the point that those of you claiming mining factions can do fine without the mining mod are being dense. Sure, those factions existed prior to the mining mod, but they weren't abiding by their NPC factions true role play because they couldn't.

as for the DHC argument. How about leaving D7 intact in dublin. by the argument you are making I shouldn't have a problem mining there (and BMM- does mine there)
we dont mine in cambridge because its so damn difficult to mine there.
we dont mine in leeds because we dont have the ability to do so... yet.

again the mining nerf is affecting everything. its not like gold is the only thing getting hurt!
