I'm reminded of star wars's concept of a 'slave circuit', controlling multiple ships via one command ship, but only to a certain extent. Not for complex maneuvers, mostly just shipping, not combat. maybe scouting or decoy but that would only get you so much of an advantage. so really, one body, using an interface to control multiple ships. technically that's exactly what you would be doing.
You would be playing four CHARACTERS though, not just ships.
So why not? as I mentioned before, this is all just pixel money that has no major impact on rl society. If a guy can bring activity to the server, exhibit roleplay, all while gaining excessive amounts of creds to fund his rp, shouldn't we feel happy for him? Consider the economy within Discovery Freelancer - ships are damn cheap anyways, and if you concentrate your funding on a single character, and with the right amount of luck in the market you will be able to achieve the "best ship" that everyone else already has- a Cau8 Cloaked BS - in a matter of weeks.
as this is a rp server, shouldn't we encourage this? During the betatestcash period the few times I logged I tried to rp but failed to find people to rp with because time zones n sheez. but as I had no "financial" obligations whatsoever, my gameplay became purely fun-based - the way a non-subscription non-p2w rp server was meant to be. and more, I could experiment, try out interesting combinations I wouldn't have risked my hard-earned credits for before.
Credits should only be an incentive enough for players to keep playing, not some status symbol of being the ace grinder/powertrader, although I admit it was kinda fun building up my moneys from nothing but an unarmed starflier, something all new players should try sometime.
tl;dr nothing wrong with personal gain.

Or maybe you aren't. Think about it- you could be that one character that is somehow in 4 places at once, now wouldn't that be interesting?
No atmosphere? GTFO.
The propeller is the greatest invention of all time.

And this post is where I stop taking you seriously anymore.
I mean, seriously, if it has to be explained to you why these things aren't good for the server, then there's no hope for you.

Yes but if it became allowed you could claim and let others know they are JUST SHIPS and not necessarily characters. Time to start thinking outside the usual box here. one character, 2-3 ships most likely, rp for their 'crew' all you like, or don't, claim they're unmanned drone ships, name them as such if necessary.

maybe not good for you, but again, thats such a typical and usual discovery stance. just 'no' with no real reason or debate other than 'it would be bad, need i say more?' sounds more like some just couldnt handle it so you wanna stop others from being able to do it, who can. how would this negatively effect you? can anyone clearly say how this would negatively effect their activities? its easy, you come across a miner, and 2 transports. the miner controls them all. OMG he might actually hire you as an escort since he's making more than 10 mil a fill now and can do so when he can get online, not waiting hours for a transport to come by. oh yes how horrible. or if yer a pirate? demand 3X the pay off.
Okay okay, let me get this straight. You want multiboxing because you can't be arsed to earn pixel prizes with just one transport/one fighter/something, like the rest of us.
First you claim it will lead to greater server activity, interactions, world peace, the truth behind the big bang and whatnot. However even though your real reason was obvious from the very start, you revealed it just now. You want it for personal gain...
...Sure, why not. We're all human beings, with our respective motives, goals and "agendas", even when it comes to online games. If you're that one specific type of person, then especially when it comes to online games. Now that wouldn't be such a problem if you actually took the time to analyze and work through your ideas before you posted them, so the rest of the community would be compelled to agree and accept. Instead, you've posted not one, but two badly thought through ideas that would contribute nothing upon further examination. But you're wondering why the 90% of the members that replied are opposed to it? My my.
Multiboxing was allowed at one point. It was a complete disaster in my eyes. People made way too much money in comparison to the honest trader who spent hours getting his cash. The slow version was Simply better because you are more likely to have a RP interaction while doing so. -The whole point of the server in the first place. Bottom line, why? I mean its not that difficult to make billions without multiboxing. And if you can't be bothered putting in the effort in the first place to take the time making that cash without Multiboxing. Why bother at all?
