Sometimes differences are realy good and that's what I want in this event. It's not a big change, it's similar to the other events but with a small "leadership" change. I would like that all Official Factions participiate in this with me.
So the idea is basicly that inside the usual events where 2 Factions meet somewhere and fight each other there would be 2 people from the Community that are being granted to lead each side with a Camera Ship:
The Camera Ship guy or whatever Player 1 or 2 in this case, will firstly look at the Navmap (there will be a given time before start, kinda like Total War) then place his ships (the faction players) accordingly. Both Players will give a "Start" sign and then the event begins.
Now you will be able to set Cap Ships in a different place, maybe Cruisers and a Carrier staying together etc that is all up to you how you plan your approach or strategy or formation.
The Players will set the target via the Discovery command "Mark Group Target" and then write in Group example "Carriers engage this target" , "Snubs cover the Carrier" commands etc. The members on each side of faction has to follow all the orders/commands the players give.
Then we go over to "Strict Follow" or "Auto Follow". One is the "Strict Follow" in which you do everything the Player says and if you're finished with your objective you'd be replying in group with "Give me new Orders." You wont approach ANYTHING until the player gives you further commands, other than Self-Defense ofc, but if you're not being targetted and not set on "Auto Follow" then you'll just wait until the Player gives you further orders.
"Auto Follow" in this case would be that the Player sets priority target and after you finished ur objective you'd continue your next approach automaticly if the Player doesn't give new Orders by then. So if you say I want Caps to "Strict Follow" and Snubs "Auto Follow" you can set that in group chat.
I'd imagine this would only work with events that are strictly for Official Factions. Whenever indies are involved in events it tends to be hard to control the engagement

You're right that's why I wanted the official factions to strictly participiate with me in this. Thanks for the advise, we'll see how that will work out. We could make a test run with indies, if it realy ends up horrible we can restrict it to official factions only.
I love the idea but, i feel in the nature of Discovery it is hard to be tactical. Maybe not Impossible however. Would be nice if unique pieces of tech could be included (Find a use for Jump Drives that is actually useful and doesn't get people to hate you for ignore thing PvP death rule).
There are many possibilities for this, would like to see how it develops.
It's a pretty cool idea. However, I think for this to work perfectly, everyone would need to be attending voice chat via ts or smth else. The speed at which battles can turn around might be too fast to communicate with just text. Just my 2 cents. Would love to see this sorta stuff in the future!
Nah if actually everyone shuts up in Group chat and let's only the Camera Ship talk, then everything should be fine xD.
The max thing that someone would write in Group would be "Give me new orders" once finishing an objective.
All you have to do is write small commands that explain alot. *Group Target* "Capital Ships engage this target." *Another Target* "Snubs get these Bombers."
The Players pretty much can just check out at what he's pointing at and engage the targets. If the Camera Ship Player figures it was a bad idea he can say "Back out to C4" on the Navmap maybe.
After a significant amount of Battle he can maybe call in the Fleet he has been holding back since the beginning of the event in another Sector on the Map and call them in for battle. That's gonna be all up to the player flying the Camera Ship.
Only there will be "Global Commands" like "Strict Follow" and "Auto Follow" that every player would need to know on which mode they've been set to. I suppose following the Command of the Camera Ship player wont realy be hard if he explains clearly who has to engage what and what to do exactly, the next steps. Especially if only the Player is going to type mostly in Group.
We can name those Camera Ships "Player 1" and "Player 2" or something obvious to know that it's one of the Players.
You mark one group target then type which Ships are going to engage it, I suppose a Carrier Player wont have the issue in figuring out if the player actually means him if he says "Carrier attack this target!" right? : D
