- Ensure the safety of the gas miners and the gas fields in the claimed territory of the Gas Miners Guild
- Establish a reasonable paramilitary to protect the GMG territory
- Act more aggressively towards Samura, make it an enemy of the GMG house
- Find more systems or clouds rich with gasses
- Strengthen the relations with important business partners
- Establish more business connections to ensure another golden century
Long term:
- Claim the Sigmas as an independent house
- Gain influence through foreign contractors in places and houses where the GMG is not as present
- Be the only supplier of H-Fuel apart from contractors
- Push Samura and Kruger out of the business
- Bring Gallia away from Oil to make them dependent on fuel as well
- Choose between Kusari and Rheinland as ally, as both are slowly trying to bring pressure upon the Guild, however, Kusari is currently being overtaken by the Pro-Samura Imperials
Faction Summary:
The Gas Miners Guild (GMG) is a tight-knit professional organization that acts as the primary supplier of H-Fuel to the four major houses. The Gas Miners Guild has its origins on Planet Honshu when the local fishing industry failed and people looked for a better way to make money. The people that left the planet to begin their search of new possibilities split up into two groups, the group that moved to Kyushu, where the food industry was booming, and the other, way smaller group, that drew their attention to the rich Crow Nebula nearby. The Crow Nebula was rich of gasses, that could be refined into valuable spaceship fuel, this group, that discovered this opportunity is the start of the Gas Miners Guild we know today.
Today, the Gas Miners Guild has established a reasonable presence and control within the Sigma systems, its mining operations can be seen mining the highly valuable Helium-3.
Due to the relatively strict handling of unlawful presences and business contracts and contractors, the Guild has, so far, enjoyed a widely positive and striving business within the Sigmas. But the famous 80-Years War has even now not let its wounds sealed, wrecks of destroyed Imperial Rheinland Navy ships can be found within Sigma-13. Kruger, Samura and their supporters, that go against the Guild, have brought the Guild to a point where a strengthened paramilitary and enhanced security divisions are necessary.
History:
The operations of the Gas Miners Guild started somewhere between 280 A.S. and 300 A.S. The initial reason the Guild was founded, was the Honshu food crisis of 250 A.S. The crisis led to a large part of the working-class of Honshu leaving the planet, looking for another possibility to generate income. A smaller group ventured out into the Crow-Nebula and started selling hydrogen and helium isotopes to the corporations of Kusari. Those journeys back and forth often took months, since jump gates were still a distant thought of the future, a lot of time and effort had to be invested before profit was made out of it. The corporations of Kusari eventually realized what kind of rich and resourceful area they had been near to and caused a lot of pressure on the smaller businesses that came from Honshu and were responsible for the operations in the Crow-Nebula. Such times could have easily caused a collapse of the business, but the many small corporations that worked apart from each other in the Nebula formed together and founded the Gas Miners Guild. As the next century of the GMG started, its claim on the Sigma-13 system was carved in stone by the Kusari government. To enforce this claim even stronger, the Gas Miners Guild has signed a sales contract with Samura Heavy Industries in 303 A.S. This contract forced Kishiro Technologies to concentrate on the persuasion of other market possibilities, which removed competition. The construction of the Osaka Storage Facility in 350 A.S. was the beginning for an extremely wealthy period of time for the Guild and for Samura, which went on for the coming 200 years.
The secure grip on the H-Fuel trade of the Guild did not keep them from exploring the dangerous border worlds for more lucrative businesses. The search for more opportunities soon brought the Guild in contact with a group of Corsairs, who were in the middle of an artifact-smuggling convoy. Due to the GMG's high and secure presence at the borders of Kusari, the Corsairs and the Guild had a short-living deal, where the Guild played the middleman of the artifact smuggle into the Empire. This deal caused the Guild to have a grudge on the quasi-lawful Hogosha syndicate and Samura, due to their alliance with the Corsairs. All the problems and complications that came with the artifact smuggling ultimately made the Guild decide, that it was better to stick to what they could do best: obtaining H-Fuel. The search for more resources turned into smaller survey operations. Several wings of smaller GMG scout ships were sent out into many regions of the Crow-nebula to search for more gas deposits. Hundreds of years passed until those searches finally proved to be successful. The discovery of the Sigma-19 system, a system which was abundant in gas pockets, marked the next step of the economical and logical expansion of the Gas Miners Guild. Meanwhile, Samura started to push the Guild for renegotiation to lower their price for H-Fuel, the Guild had other plans. They scouted the competition out, instead. In 550 A.S. the Guild signed a contract with Kishiro instead, which was to finance a Jump Gate to Sigma-19 in exchange for the right to fuel distribution. The construction ended 100 years later, which ended with the Gas Miner Ogashawa being placed in the middle of the system, where all the rich gas fields were.
570 A.S. was the year, in which the tensions between the Imperial Navy of Rheinland and the Gas Miners Guild escalated. Due to a time of economic well-being, the factories of Rheinland managed to build the largest fleet within Sirius. Such a large fleet came with the everlasting and always rising demand of fuel, which put an extraordinary strain on the economy in Rheinland, which had to import almost all of its fuel from Kusari. The Emperor of Rheinland knew that on the long term, his fleet would only suffer from such a tremendous demand for fuel with such a minor income of it. He decided to put his great military to use. 589 A.S. The Rheinland Military deploys a large part of its mighty fleet over the Frankfurt borders into the Sigma-13 system, to secure the gas fields of the system for Kruger Minerals. This move was the start of the first major conflict within Sirius, later known as the 80-Year-War. The strike of the Rheinland Military came so fast and strong, that the Guild's forces were being pushed out of Gas Miner Naha, securing the system partly for Kruger's operations. The Guild had the option to push for Kusari's intervention but instead focused on utilizing the neutrality of Kusari by basing the majority of their forces out of Aomori station in Honshu. Due to the knowledge of nearby jump holes into the Sigma-13 system, the GMG used those passages to send wings of smaller strike craft into the system to fight a guerilla war with the Rheinland Military, in a system, they knew better how to operate than them. This superiority in knowledge enabled the Guild to destroy a substantial part of the Rheinland Military.
The conflict went on for many more years, the Gas Miners Guild managed to weaken the Imperial Rheinland fleet so much, that they had lost all of its initiatives. The forces of the fleet were stretched thin and the fuel was running lower and lower, due to the sabotage of the Guild. In 660 A.S. the Rheinland Military was pushed away from Naha, this had to be enforced by a high-risk boarding strike of the Guild during a space assault. With more time and more space, the Guild pushed the Rheinland fleet into the Yanagi Nebula, the end of the war, however, came when the Rheinland Military tried a last desperate attempt at taking Sigma-13 over in 668 A.S. This battle is known as the "Battle of Yanagi", which ended with a decisive victory for the Guild, that left a massive amount of destroyed Imperial ships within the nebula. With the victory over the Imperial Navy of Rheinland, the war took an end and Rheinland was forced to concentrate on its internal problems. Their claim on Sigma-13, however, ended only with the popular revolution in 672 A.S. The GMG had to clean up their system and begin rebuilding the region.
After the war has ended, Sigma-13 was in pieces, it became a treasure for scavengers and pirates who were reusing all kinds of scrap from the wrecks of the system. The Guild, with its heavy damages taken, was not able to enforce its laws at that time, unable to stop the pirates, the Guild made a contract with ALG Waste Disposal, eager to get rid of the wrecks and the scrap. This contract had to be brought to fruition by Interspace Commerce first. The deal was an ant-Rheinland one in itself. All Rheinland authorities were not allowed to enter GMG space, Kruger became a hated rival ever since. Other Rheinland corporations, however, were freely allowed to pass the system but not setup any bases. The only exception from this was ALG, who were allowed to construct a base called Helgoland, which was supposed to clean up the wrecks from the Yanagi Field. Helgoland was built at the edge of the scrap-field and bordering Naha with a trade lane connection. Th eighth century marked a time of mistrust and smaller conflicts between Samura and the Gas Miners Guild. Samura had accepted the repairing tax that was put on the Guild without any remark or offer of help. However, they tried to push down the price for H-Fuel even further to finance their own gas mining project in Hokkaido. The Guild was convinced that Samura had knowingly abused the agreement between the two parties, which caused them to instead finance the Blood Dragon revolutionary movement in Hokkaido, to stop the H-Fuel production there. Another aiding project was brought by the Guild's most experienced veteran pilots who offered their training to the Blood Dragons, in order to enable them to conduct more destructing strikes onto the operations of Samura in Hokkaido and even the Navy operations in Honshu. This funding project brought successes after some time, as the Samura operations were delayed and the costs for Samura's H-Fuel out of Hokkaido were way higher than the ones of the Gas Miners Guild.
The Nomad war of 800 A.S. was another thorn in the Guild's eye. Not at the same strength as earlier during the 80-Years-War and busy with their H-Fuel operations. The infected Rheinland Military conducted yet another strike onto the Sigma-13 system, though, not with the goals as before. The Guild knew that the Rheinland fleet had better chances to win such a battle than the last time and decided to keep themselves as much out of the conflict as they could. The Jormungand fleet that entered the Sigma-13 system was held down by a Blood Dragons attack wing, though, which caused the Rheinland Military to be delayed in its operation within the Sigmas, but also that they stayed there longer, being inactive but present. As the war ended shortly after, the Guild began its first negotiations with Kishiro regarding the construction of new gas miners and H-Fuel storage and distribution. The yet stable contract with Samura was sure to end soon enough and thus, the Guild and its representatives prolonged it. Kishiro's gas miners were far superior compared to Samura's. This caused the H-Fuel price to be much lower. 801 A.S. was the year that marked the end of the contract between the Gas Miners Guild and Samura Heavy Industries, instead, an exclusive contract with Kishiro went into effect. The coming years up to this day were fortuitous for the Guild. The profits of cheap H-Fuel and the collaboration with Kishiro for useful equipment were the assurance that the Gas Miners Guild was to rise again.
Timeline:
56 A.S. The settlement of Planet Honshu is completed, it is the first colony after Planet New Tokyo, which was settled 51 years prior to Honshu. The largest part of the planet#s surface consists of ocean, which is the ground for a great fishing monopole on the planet. The Redfin is the main supply of the colony.
250 A.S. The Redfin has gone extinct and the fish industry collapses. Many inhabitants decide to seek another fortune away from Honshu. About 80% of the population leaves, most of it to Planet Kyushu. A smaller number of people ventured out to the Crow Nebula to harvest the fuel gasses.
282 A.S. Two decades of extreme individual success follow, by the many smaller groups of gas miners in the Crow Nebula. The major corporations of Kusari take notice of the profitable business not too far and strive for the takeover of control. They try to push the smaller competitors away, who refuse and band together to protect their fields. The Gas Miners Guild is founded.
284 A.S. The construction of Aomori Station is finished in the Honshu system within the Chuyu cloud, a local outcropping of the Crow-Nebula. Although the base was previously meant solely for the purpose of a repairing station and a storage for the gases without tradelanes, it developed to the Guild's main administrative station.
298 A.S. The Empire of Kusari officially recognizes Sigma-13 as GMG territory.
330 A.S. A contract with Samura Heavy Industries is established. Only Samura may ship the gases from Sigma-13. A small part of the contractors is invited to reside on Aomori to oversee this contract, the consequence of this mutual agreement is that Kishiro has to look elsewhere for sources of revenue.
350 A.S. Osaka Storage Facility is being built by Samura and used for storing the large amounts of fuel that the Guild ships. Both Samura and the GMG enjoy 200 golden years of high profit and cooperation.
503 A.S. A small group of GMG scouts made contact with the Corsairs. A short enduring deal is being made and the GMG become an important business partner for the Corsairs and their profitable smuggling of Alien Artifacts. The Hogosha, however, spot their chance and manage to replace the GMG, causing them to grow a grudge against the Hogosha, enforcing this by banning all artifacts from their space. Due to the lack of Samura intervention, the general opinion of their business partners drops as well.
550 A.S. The Sigma-19 system with its valuable gas fields is explored and the Guild is searching for a jump gate manufacturer. Due to the decreasing respect for Samura, together with their attempts to amend their H-Fuel agreement to increase their own profit at the expense of the Guild, causes Kishiro to be chosen for this job. In exchange for that, the GMG promises distribution rights that were exclusive to Samura before.
561 A.S. The Guild discovers a jump hole within the Dunryu-cloud within Sigma-19, which leads to the Omicron Beta system. Planet Elysium is being found within the Edge Nebula of Omicron Beta and raises interest due to a lot of alien organisms that live on the surface. The Guild thinks about using them for terraforming.
570 A.S. The Imperial Navy of Rheinland starts to gain interest in the GMG. Rheinland has managed to build up the biggest fleet within Sirius yet and is the cause for rising fuel costs, due the only way of getting it are imports from Kusari. Tension builds.
589 A.S. With Kruger as a corporation backbone, the Rheinland Military enters Sigma-13, planning to push the Gas Miners Guild of the system so that Kruger can use the fields, this marks the start of the 80-Years-War, the first major conflict within Sirius. Gas Miner Naha is captured almost immediately by Rheinland. The Guild takes advantage of Kusari's neutrality to base their attacks from Aomori Station, engaging in guerilla warfare.
614 A.S. Richthofen Station is destroyed. GMG strikes are slowly bringing the advantage over to the Guild due to the knowledge of secret jump holes within Honshu. The assault on Kruger's main mining facility starts and the defenses of the Rheinland Military are already too weak to sufficiently protect Kruger's interests, the GMG manages to destroy the facility.
620 A.S. Planet Kurile is being charted within Sigma-17 and raises interest due to its alien organisms that can live in toxic waters.
650 A.S. The Sigma-19 jump gate construction is finally completed and Gas Miner Ogashawa is being positioned within Sigma-19's rich gas fields and for security, since fighting continues.
668 A.S.The Rheinland Military has effectively positioned itself within the Yanagi Field and have received support by the last battlegroup that is being sent from home. The GMG gains an advantage due to their knowledge of the fields and manages to destroy the attacking fleet. Brought down to its knees, Rheinland accepts a defeat and ends the 80-Years-War. Kruger and Rheinland lawful ships still remain unwelcome within GMG space.
676 A.S. With the financial support of Interspace Commerce, the Guild signs a contract with ALG that permits the construction of a base within Sigma-13 to get rid of the scrap that has been an attraction for pirates and scavengers alike. ALG becomes the only Rheinland presence allowed in Sigma-13 as of now.
721 A.S. The relations with Samura are decreasing more and more with their persuasion of war-loan payments, paired with their relentless push on lowering the fuel prices causes the GMG to secretly support the Blood Dragons within Hokkaido to disrupt Samura's own gas mining operations there, with great success.
760 A.S. A group of explorers discovers the Okinawa system, a yet untouched system that the Guild quickly claims and establishes a colony on Planet Miura. Fujisawa MIning Facility and Isehara Refinery are being built within the system. A great deal is being made, which causes Interspace to finance the Guild in return for 5% of Isehara's fuel profits and the permission to buy it from Miura. Kusari does not contest that claim.
762 A.S. Fujisawa's activity is high, the station is being used as effectively as Aomori in its youth. The field in which it is built contains the valuable Mintaka Hydrogen that is being harvested and then brought to the base. A large paramilitary is maintained on the station as well.
763 A.S. Isehara's construction is finished, its purpose, that changes later on, is to store equipment and supplies for the planet that sends Plutonium up.
780 A.S. Terraforming of Miura has started with the goal to raise the low temperature by 20 °C.
800 A.S. Due to the ongoing Nomad war, the GMG is forced to lay low for the duration of the war, primarily to not provoke the mighty fleet of infected Rheinland ships that moved through Sigma-13, which they simply couldn't stop with force this time.
801 A.S. After the Nomad war, the GMG intentionally lets the contract with Samura expire. Another contract is being made with Kishiro instead. Kishiro provides cheaper and highly superior gas miners and is awarded a highly exclusive contract, similar to the one with Samura in 330 A.S. The remaining staff on Aomori by Samura is immediately vacated and is now more or less an enemy of the Guild, although direct assaults are rather being used by the Hogosha and the Farmers Alliance.
818 A.S. The Yanagi clean-up is completed. Helgoland is being transferred to the GMG and the ALG leaves Sigma-13 again. Miura's terraforming process has finished and the Plutonium found on the planet receives refining.
824 A.S. The Yukari family takes over the Gas Miners Guild.
Owned structures:
Aomori Station, Honshu system
Steeped in history, Aomori Station is the primary base of operations of the Gas Miners Guild within Kusari space. Built in 284 A.S., it began life as an equipment and ship repair depot for the fledgling GMG miners, who were working the dangerous gas clouds of the Crow Nebula. It has been expanded and extensively renovated over the centuries to become a massive space habitat and administrative heart of the Gas Miners Guild. Originally, Aomori was the main point of contact between Samura and the GMG. For almost five centuries, Samura would buy H-Fuel from the Gas Miners, which was then stored at Osaka before being shipped to the rest of Sirius. After their "special relationship" broke down and the GMG joined forces with Kishiro, virtually all of Samura's administrative staff left the station. Kishiro maintains a much smaller presence on Aomori since they have large offices on nearby Planet Honshu. The GMG considers Aomori Station and the surrounding area, including the jump gate, to be their sovereign territory, and this is fully recognized by the Kusari government.
Planet Miura, Okinawa system
Miura is an arctic planet with massive pure water glaciers and vast oceans, most of which are permanently frozen over. Only in sporadic locations where geothermal activity forces heat to the surface does surface water stay liquid. These narrow areas are oases of life on the planet, where algae, invertebrate, and even primitive fish-like life forms have evolved. The harsh Arctic climate has caused no life to evolve outside of the oceans - there are no plants or animals in Miura's natural ecology. Despite this, the planet does possess a breathable atmosphere in most locations, so long as the air is heated before being inhaled. The Blood Dragons were the first to discover the planet in 688 A.S. but realized the climate made it unsuitable for settling. Initial studies suggested the climate could be adjusted, given enough resources, but the Blood Dragons did not have the means for such a massive undertaking. Almost half a century later, in 760 A.S., a Gas Miners Guild (GMG) scouting party led by the Kinai Maru arrived in the system. When the survey of the system was completed, the Gas Miners Guild immediately founded a colony on Miura, in order to stake a claim to the planet. Construction of the Fujisawa and Isehara facilities started not soon afterward. The Gas Miners Guild claim to the system was never contested by Kusari. The GMG initiated a terraforming project on Miura in 780 A.S., aimed at raising the planet's average temperature by at least 20 degrees. This is expected to turn the planet into an oceanic world, not unlike Honshu, over the course of the next century by releasing greenhouse gases. Unlike most worlds which would see rising sea levels from global warming, the largely oceanic world would see the water levels drop slightly - the frozen ice cap on the ocean surface has a higher density once the ice melts. Most of the GMG's settlements on the planet are located around a single large mining colony, where sizeable amounts of Uranium-rich ore have been found. The Isehara refinery in orbit produces Plutonium fuel from this - one of the active components in MOX fuel. In order to reduce labor costs and the risk to their own people, the GMG has contracts with several police forces, offering the Miura mines as a "correctional" facility for prisoners sentenced to hard labor. The Kusari State Police and Liberty Police Inc. both make use of Miura in this fashion, mainly sending convicted terrorists in the hope they will never return. For the GMG, the prisoners have been a source of cheap labor, although their efficiency leaves to be desired. The GMG, however, has refused to accept suspected Blood Dragon or Golden Chrysanthemum convicts, citing it does not want to give these groups more reason to attack the Miura facilities. Between the prison population, the Terraforming teams and various civilian settlements on Miura, the planet now has a population of roughly 220.000 people, a number that is expected to steadily increase as the climate improves.
Gas Miner Naha, Sigma-13 system
Rich in vital gas resources, the Sigma-13 system has been contested by a number of groups since its discovery in 60 AS. The conflict reached a fever pitch when the system became one of the more fiercely contested prizes during the 80-Years War between the Gas Mining Guild (GMG) and Rheinland. Using speed and a thorough knowledge of the territory, the GMG managed to push back the Rheinland forces, finally obliterating the bulk of the Rheinland Navy at the Battle of the Yanagi Nebula. Since that time the system has been almost exclusively under GMG control, and the Gas Miner Naha has provided support for the GMG's extensive mining operations.
Fujisawa Mining Facility, Okinawa system
Constructed in 762 A.S. by the Gas Miners Guild after the discovery of vast untapped hydrogen reserves in the Mintaka Hydrogen Field, Fujisawa has grown to become one of the largest bases in operation by the GMG, supplying H-Fuel to various markets across Sirius and assisting Isehara with raw materials needed for its terraforming projects. The project was not without danger, however, as the Mintaka field contains dangerous pockets of explosive gases. Fujisawa is also serving as a way station, repair depot and barracks for the security forces that are heavily present in the system due to the sensitivity of the project being undertaken by the Gas Miners Guild and its corporate ally, Kishiro. Both Kishiro and the GMG have invested enormous sums of money into the joint project, with the Guild providing both raw materials and the security muscle necessary to protect their interests. With the ever increasing attacks against Gas Miner Ogashawa in Sigma 19 by the Corsairs, Outcasts and even Samura's mercenaries, the Hogosha, the GMG hope that Fujisawa and the Planet Miura terraforming project will help revive their and Kishiro's fortunes in Kusari and the Sigmas, both economically and politically, allowing them to pull out of the Omicrons somewhat and come to some form of unofficial agreement with the Outcasts to lessen the pressure exerted on them by the incessant assaults.
Gas Miner Ogashawa, Sigma-19 system
The Gas Mining Guild (GMG) first surveyed the Sigma-19 system in 550 AS and determined that it was rich in resources -- though far distant from the GMG's usual markets. After intense negotiations, the GMG signed an agreement with Kishiro to finance a Jump Gate to the system in exchange for mining rights. Once the Jump Gate was opened in 650 AS, the Gas Miner Ogashawa was stationed in the system by the GMG and began full-scale operations. The fact that several Kishiro expert advisors are permanently assigned to the ship and that the Ogashawa provides support for Kishiro's own mining activities in the system has reportedly not been well received by its corporate rival, Samura.
Battleship Daishouri, Sigma-21 system
Daishouri, or "Triumphant Victory," is one of three Rheinland warships commandeered from the Rheinland Military by GMG Paramilitary during the apex of the 80-year war between the two. Thanks to the early brilliance of famed GMG engineer, Dr. Ito Namura, all three battleships were dissected, studied and made operational with GMG developed the technology. Daishouri sustained the least amount of damage when commandeered and was thus the easiest to modify and the first battleship deployed to begin its role of guarding Sigma 59. The other GMG warships were the Ayakashi Maru or "Ghost Ship That Appears After a Shipwreck" and Namura (named after the same famous engineer that lost his life reviving the ship, Dr. Namura). After a later loss of the Namura, the GMG decommissioned the remaining warships and hid them deep in Sigma 59. In recent years, with the system fully developed, GMG once again had the two battleships augmented with modern technology and they were redeployed. Daishouri resumes its guardianship of Sigma-59 from its southern flank, while the Ayakashi Maru slipped off into deep space.
Niigata Star City, Sigma-59 system
Niigata is a gargantuan space colony established in the otherwise-remote Sigma-59 system. With the influx of inmates and colonists actually outpacing the number of jobs on the surface of Miura, the GMG unveiled an equally ambitious project. Pushing the limits of structural integrity and with enthusiastic investment from Interspace Commerce, GMG unveiled the first Star City constructed within Sirius by appending the original GMG-owned stations of Sigma-59 onto Niigata's chassis, forming one titanic construct. Niigata's internal bustle belies the frontier nature of Sigma-59. While transports and Guild patrols are common around the immediate fortress-like periphery of the City and the nearby jump hole, the station has a population easily capable of self-sufficiency. Advanced hydroponic technology and frequent imports from Synth Foods ensure that the vast majority of the over six-thousand people aboard Niigata are fed and thus able to contribute to the full-blown metropolitan economy aboard, whose goal by a year's time is to become a net exporter. While the corporate sectors of Sirius have either applauded or looked enviously on at the GMG's overall success with this audacious project, the lower reaches of the maintenance decks are rumored to already be an impoverished nightmare. Station security is rumored not to enter certain decks without heavy arms and numbers, causing some aboard to worry about the station's integrity. GMG continues to assure the sector that its investment is safe, claiming that the sheer number of fail-safes and redundant life support systems mean that a serious threat from within is unlikely.
Systems:
Okinawa system
The discovery of this system was a joint venture between the Gas Miners Guild and Kishiro Technologies. Much of the infrastructure in this system was financed by Interspace Commerce, though the newest addition, the jumpgate to Sigma-19 and its attached trade lanes have been sponsored by GMG and Kishiro. The principal terraforming of Planet Miura has succeeded in 818 A.S. and a primary docking ring has been established. However, most of the planet still offers a very harsh environment and terraforming by Kishiro will proceed for the foreseeable future. Main revenue sectors in this system are the high-yield plutonium mines on Miura and the orbital Isehara refinery as well as the refining of Helium-3 to H-Fuel at Fujisawa. Since Interspace and Kishiro both have bases in front of Miura, the Gas Miners Guild often holds its conferences and business deal meetings within one of the present stations. Several gas miners occupy the whole Mintaka Hydrogen Field where Fujisawa is in the middle. A jumphole connection to Sigma-59 has been carved as a path to quickly reach the more out systems. The Blood Dragons have a station in the northern Kofu Dust Cloud. The only threat the Gas Miners Guild within the system is Kamakura base in the southern Hasuda Asteroid Field.
Sigma-19 system
Sigma-19 connects Honshu and Sigma-17, it is the key system for Outcast raiding forces, that originate from Omicron Beta, which has a jumphole entry in the Dunryo cloud. The Gas Miners Guild mines the valuable gasses from the giant Hiryu cloud, but it doesn't cover all of the system. Orbital Spa and Cruise has classed this system as a famous holiday spot since Luxury Liner Hawaii has been stationed next to the beautiful Planet Hiran. Behind the planet, a jumpgate to Sigma-17, which has been a joint project between Kishiro and the Gas Miners Guild, marks the entrance to Cryer's Atka station. Although a very dangerous operation, the Guild has interest in the easily mineable Alien organisms within the Donryu cloud. The Golden Chrysanthemums have stationed the Battleship Matsuda next to Planet Cerebus and Hades. Its proximity to the highly protected Outcast territory makes Sigma-19 a very dangerous system if being passed mindlessly. Several ships have already gone lost in the far reaches of the system.
Sigma-59 system
Sigma-59 is a large system with a connection to Sigma-21, Okinawa, Sigma-19 and Omicron Sigma. It contains the famous Niigata Star City, the biggest space-borne complex that the GMG owns. The Bounty Hunters Guild has their own station in the system called Nobeoka Platform. The system is relatively uninteresting, should one aim for adventures, while the giant gas clouds provide an ideal tourist spot, the GC in the system make such plans rather hard to accomplish.
Sigma-21 system
Sigma-21 is a recently surveyed system that connects to Sigma-15, Sigma-59, Sigma-17, and Honshu. Although claimed by the Gas Miners Guild, the only controlled base they own is the battleship Daishouri, which is a captured Rheinland Battleship of the 80-Years-War. It guards the Tonkin cloud, which includes both jumpholes to Sigma-17 as well as Sigma-59. The most interesting part of the system, however, is probably Planet Saigon, which is able to be inhabited. Both Kusari and the Gas Miners Guild lay claim on Saigon, which, to this point, still remains no-man's-land.
Sigma-15 system
Although a Sigma system, Sigma-15 is the least claimed system by the Gas Miners Guild. It lacks any sort of installation of Gas Miners Guild origin and is more or less claimed by Rheinland as well. The only reason for interest is its proximity to Sigma-21. Its lack of any H-Fuel source and Corsair and Unioner presence make the system rather uninteresting for the Gas Miners Guild.
Sigma-17 system
Sigma 17 is a Border World system that lies outside the Sigma-19. The system is known for a number of alien organisms, and have attracted at least two corporations, Samura Heavy Industries and Cryer Pharmaceuticals, to establish bases there. The sole jump gate is located on the Northeast side of the system and connects the Sigma 19 system. On the criminal side, the Corsairs and the Outcasts frequent both bases and are constantly harassing the Atka Research Station. The Zoners had previously established a base in the system, Freeport 7, which was destroyed during the Nomad events of 800 AS. Its ruins can still be found. Planet Kurile is a hotspot between Samura and the Gas Miners Guild, the lack of tolerance over Samura presence in the Sigmas, combined with the claim over the system regularly causes conflicts, including the destruction of Kurile's docking ring.
Sigma-13 system
Sigma 13 is a Border World system that lies between Honshu and Frankfurt. This system lies deep within the Crow Nebula, where volatile gas pockets are frequently encountered. During the 80-year war between the Rheinland Military and the Gas Miners Guild (GMG), the GMG lured the Rheinland fleet deep into this system. A massive GMG ambush, compounded by the gas pockets, resulted in the total defeat of the Rheinlanders. That being said, lingering outside marked trade lanes is not recommended. The system is often being visited by Corsair and Outcast raid groups who aim to disrupt the lanes and pirate bypassing traders. Due to the systems function as connection between Honshu and Frankfurt, it is commonly visited by both Rheinland Military groups, as well as Naval Forces patrols, to secure the traffic.
Assault ships:
T-520-GS "Bishamon" GMG Gunship:
Developed in early 822 A.S., with production beginning shortly before 823, the Bishamon class gunship is designed to provide electronic warfare and AWACS support, as well as sturdier firepower, to maintain Guild superiority within the depths of the Crow Nebula. While primarily a support ship fitted with the latest in Kishiro - and supposedly Order - sensor technology, the Bishamon has a respectable armor rating, six standard turret mounts, and an average maneuverability which allow it to hold its own. With manufacaturing in full swing, Bishamons are now often seen with the Guild's telltale flurry of Karasu fighters which guard the blue mists of the Crow.
T-593-VHF "Benzaiten" GMG Very Heavy Fighter:
In an attempt to cope with always developing the technology of the Outcasts and Corsair forces that raid GMG convoys, the Guild, with the help of Kishiro, has developed this ship as a sign of defense and strength. With a strong hull and a reasonable amount of maneuverability, this ship also glances with its recently developed moving engine wings. Often seen as escort ships or regular patrols around the Sigmas, the Benzaiten is not a ship one wants to encounter if piloted by one of the GMG's veterans.
T-493-B "Kaichou" GMG Bomber:
The predecessor of this bomber, a hastily built vessel that rode the development wave that was the imminent threat of what would result in the invasion of Sigma 13 by the Rheinland Military, was a vessel born of pure functionality and need of purpose over the usual artistic lines of Kusari craft. The results of that original need of purpose can be found drifting through Sigma 13 to this day. Generations of refinement have resulted in the Gas Miners Guild possessing a bomber of rich heritage and performance that easily rivals house militaries.
T-493-HF "Karasu" GMG Heavy Fighter:
The Crow Nebula has long been one of the silent warzones of the Sirius sector. From the early attempts at conquest by Rheinland to pressures from rival Kusari firms and Outcast assaults, the Gas Miner's Guild has forever been hard pressed to keep its holdings secure, the gas moving and its shareholders happy. The T-493 space superiority fighter is the backbone of their ongoing efforts to maintain civilization in regions that are anything but. The superior agility of this heavy fighter provides it with a strong edge against the lumbering bombers that could threaten their claims and the deadly accuracy provided by the numerous sensory systems required to operate in a region as chaotic as the nebula ensure the hasty disabling of enemy vessels, or to perform scans to secure new forward claims.
Transport ships:
"Ryuujin" Kusari Train:
With her graceful lines and imposing defenses, the Ryuujin serves as much as a potent hauler of the State's production wonders as a diplomatic envoy of the nation's ideals. With the rich tapestry of ritual and tradition that guides Kusarian business practices, many stretching back to the centuries before space was a romantic dream, many merchants of the nation have found the accommodations of foreign ports of call to be undignified for the task of establishing trust and mutual friendship while working to gain the greatest deals. To the delight of many, these super haulers have been outfitted with suites designed to accommodate such needs, with compartmentalized, but stately, gardens and teahouses incorporated for the pleasure of collaborating men of business and industry.
T-482-T "Kujira" GMG Transport:
The venerable "Whale" class of transport was designed with a construction philosophy based upon the conservation of scarce mineral resources, and was originally built in a more peaceful age for transporting refined H-Fuel to the four Houses. The ultra efficient transport vessel has received wide demand from modern day trading markets, where it is widely used by corporate fleets and entrepreneurs across Sirius, rewarding the GMG's new business partners, Kishiro, an acclaimed addition to their shipbuilding queues, and Samura with a sore spot in its portfolio.Agile, compact and containing one of the greatest cargo capacities in the Sirius sector within a deceptively sturdy hull the vessel nevertheless comes at a price. Virtually all defensive capabilities have been sacrificed to enable the luxuries afforded by the vessel leaving her eminently vulnerable to intercolonial piracy.
K7P-19T "Akegata" Kusari Container Transport:
A rare, joint project between Samura and Kishiro, the Akegata Transport was ordered to be produced by the Emperor as a way to push both companies to improve relations and to develop standardized parts. The Emperor's plan was to have each company bring the best of its skills to the project, developing a Kusari transport that would ensure the protection of the economic interests of Kusari. Samura used it's expertise to develop the engines, hull, and superstructure, while Kishiro developed the state of the art scanning equipment and power plant. The Akegata class is the product of the collaboration of the best minds Kusari has to offer.
T-382-T "Kamome" Kusari Transport:
The Kamome has its roots in the first earnest attempts to harvest the gasses of the Crow nebula. The complex internal chambers and equipment used for identifying, filtering and storing the myriad forms of gasses through which it traversed are still considered a wonder of technological ingenuity to this day. The rich fortunes that these vessels yielded for the Gas Miners Guild paved the way for more efficient stationary harvesting centers resulting in fleets of mobile harvesters to be retrofitted into highly efficient, and more importantly safe, transport for the volatile gasses that move the fleets of the Sirius sector. Samura maintains several fleets of the vessels, retrofitted from their days of prior service with the guild and now employed to serve the company's own ends. This ship is equipped with the basic tools.
T-282-F "Garanchou" GMG Freighter:
The descendant of the original exploratory vessels who charted the fringes of the Crow Nebula, these small vessels once represented an intense investment with dubious return for the private firms who constructed them with the limited resources at their disposal. In modern times they've become the trademark of startup corporations and capital refuel vessels. A robust shell coupled with generations of refinement in transport security for their hazardous cargo has produced a vessel capable or surviving the treacherous eddies of the Crow Nebula.
