To be honest here, it has been a long time since i last played Disco before all these changes made after 2010-2012. I can't really remember the true load-outs I used to use, so all this balance now is what I am used to. It is very interesting to see what has been changed since then.

honestly as meme as that is id welcome it back as a nice change of pace that everyone across the board has access to without sacrificing something important like a CD
the problem there is that missiles destroy the server; its laggy as ass as it is
honestly i wish you could mount (appropriately balanced not the garbage we have now) at least two missiles instead of guns but i suspect that even that would be way too much for the server to handle (and theyd probably end up being too annoying anyway because unlike vanilla missile tracking where missiles can be reliably dodged without CMs, current tracking is either 100% hit chance or 0% depending on how the server feels)

.84/.85 the server was still fun and populated. at .86 things started going downhill .87 it started snowballing downhill. What is left now is just a mess imo.

Personally, I think that anything short of a Battleship being able to instakill something is silly. This isn't something like Star Wars where you're going to have 1000 fighters attacking a capital ship, and a single shot will kill them but most shots miss.
In the real world, a real situation is VHF comes up on a Gunboat. As a VHF, I know that the Gunboat's primary role is to chase down and destroy VHFs like me. It's firepower, if brought to bear on me fully, can destroy my ship in a few seconds. I'm either going to hope I can out pilot them and likely die, or I'm going to turn and run.
Situation 2) VHF comes up on a bomber. In this situation, a VHF should ABSOLUTELY have nothing to fear from a bomber. Bombers are meant to do large damage to large, slow moving targets. The idea that a Bomber should have weapons that can instakill a VHF is absurd, they're not designed to combat VHFs, they're designed to combat large capital ships and be ESCORTED by VHFs.
Situation 3) VHF comes up on a Cruiser. Nobody in their right mind is going to try to take down a Cruiser with a VHF. They don't have the weaponry to do it. Does the Cruiser need to instakill it? No, its main weaponry can shred it if it hits it, and frankly the VHF poses no real threat to it.
The whole idea of instakilling seems silly to me, Gunboats can easily annihilate VHFs as intended. A few hits from the weapons aboard a GB will tear apart a VHF.
If any group of ships needs attention, it's HFs. They're pointless, they're slow as VHFs, with moderately better handling, worse powercores, and worse weapons than a LF. They're not even significantly cheaper than a VHF! Why anyone would bother with a HF when they could just fly a VHF is beyond me.
Gunboats cant counter snubs, as well as cruisers cant. They can only REPPEL them, this is entirely another shit. I tbh see 3 fighters killing GB as normal thing, as well as 2 bombers killing it. Reppeling and creating denial area not mean 100% killing, only creating high risk of it.
What really harm gunboats its that mentioned turret split while half of gunboats were made without it in minds (as Lyth said). You can also note, that even years after this, modellers continue provide us with GB without damn on-side placed heavy hardpoints, what immediately render gunboat as barely usable in serious fleet engagement. Something should be done with this thing.
Edit- Also about HFs. Make all HF same fun as Sabateur.
