The crimson-haired Corsair was sitting at the bar of planet Crete, one of those where the worse kind of humanity would go. Unlike the one she was used to going to; this bar had the worse alcohols and the worse entertainment. Only hairy men, or old men were going at this bar, sharing their stories and promoting their old adventures. The only reason why Nina Rodriguez was here was because she was bored. Nothing to do for the empire right now. She thought it could be a good time to kill some time but in fact it made her day even more boring. She stood up and left the building.
It was a cloudy day. Life was calm in the town where she stayed most of the time. Most of the men were in space doing the usual activity, mining for Xeno Relics, smuggling artifacts and pirating transport. The ones staying were mostly old people and kids or Corsairs taking a day off. Nina was walking, thinking about what she could do. As a lonely wolf, most of the time, she was having a hard time when it was teamwork. Especially when the people with whom she was working were incompetent. One thing that irritated her was the fact she was born with a strict culture. Corsairs are bound to marry those with the same blood, marrying another Corsair. The reason was mostly to now weaken the future of Corsairs. It was somehow stupid, at least for her. Instead of spitting out her thoughts, she kept quiet. It would be heresy if someone heard her and punishment would be severe. Although she couldn’t complain, she had a good life.
While she was still walking with no destination in mind, she thought about vice-almirante Lucia Jaquez. It had been a while she did not see her. Nina simply thought she went for vacation somewhere. She looked around and something was wrong. Something she can’t explain was making her angry. A spontaneous anger for no reason. In such case, we could say she was bipolar. Nina was rarely patient and handling idiots simply made it worse but at this moment, there was no one around. Around that Rheinlander, she found some peace she never had and yet, the culture of her people was clearly restricted. It angered the Corsair when Cesar did not want to listen and simply order to shut and comply.
She walked away to find a place where to relax. Of course, she had to head to a bar and drink. Once arrived, the young woman headed to the bartender and she simply ordered two bottles of whisky for herself. The man looked at her with surprise, but he didn’t say a word. Once she paid the man, bottles in hand, she walked to a silent place, alone. The Corsair opened the bottle, drank a couple of sips and sighed. With her left hand, reaching her forehead, Nina sighed again. With her right hand, she grabbed her PDA and looked if she had a transmission from someone or anything new from The Brotherhood. It was purely silence. Another sigh came out of her mouth. She took a couple of sips again.
After some hours spending her time at the bar, it was getting late and she was drunk after drinking two bottles of whiskey. She went outside of the building, it was night. While she was walking, how she was doing it, we could tell that the young woman was completely drunk. She was laughing for nothing.
Nina was looking the Crete Broadcasting and it soon was interrupted by a broadcast of The Deterrence. In it, it was saying they was running a special operation implying to exchange technology with the Insurgency and they were ‘allowed’ to have free way in the Corsair empire. It was just shocking. It angered the crimson haired Corsair. It was the last drop into the vase. For days, she locked herself at her own place to calm down, but it was no use.
Nina Rodriguez decided to leave her place and headed to the siege of The Brotherhood looking for an Elder. Anyone could do. She just wanted to express her anger about the broadcast made by The Deterrence. However, as soon as she entered, she already expressed her anger. ’’Guys, did you hear that broadcast made by those funny group, Deterrence? They openly said that Insurgency have free pass in our empire! I also heard, by one of you that those Insurgency were working with Outcasts in the past!’’ She made a pause before continuing, taking a funny voice simply to make of fun of the other group. ’’ -We, The Deterrence are open for outsiders and welcome them.-‘’ On the spot, it was funny the way she was expressing this really sentence. She then took a serious voice. ’’I need to talk with an Elder, are they free?’’ Unlucky for her, the other members said they were busy. Nina left and took a walk. Her thoughts were filled of anger.
Since the Elders were busy, Nina went again at her place and started to form her take before to contact privately Cesar Gutierrez, one of the Elders. She had a better relation with him, but it simply ended there. It took eight days before she contacted him.
