Weekend Convoy & Siege: 6-8pm
OVERVIEW
The Order has always been aware of alien infiltrators of human appearance, colloquially known as The Wild. But while the nationality of such creatures could usually be narrowed to a few infected areas, their proliferation across Sirius has been a growing cause for concern within the highest ranks of the shadowy organization. Seemingly indiscriminate terrorist strikes has managed to limit their spread between the Houses, but this was ever a losing battle. With the advent of alien thralls, virtually indistinguishable from a regular human, and general political upheaval in the colonies, the sides of the conflict were nothing like the clear borders of the Nomad War. A change of strategy was called for, focusing on the sources of infection in addition to its downstream effects.
The first test-bed for this new strategy came about in Liberty, where the hardened Atun was deployed to stalk its alien prey. But after years of fruitless operations, its captain and crew were far from the proud volunteers going to the most important mission of the Order. The now haggard men and women, not having seen the inside of a port in all this time, are ready for the assignment to end. And this time, the universe seemed to have come to their aid. The Event on Sudbury would be of interest to any spacer stuck in the drudgery of a wearisome mission, but it is that very interest which would prove to be the undoing of the aliens.
Mere seconds after the planet gleamed with a fell signal, a number of in-system sensors quickly detected the activity, and passed it along to their pre-programmed masters. After a cascade of discussion and decision-making, the LSF have decided that something worthy of continued investigation remained on the surface. The backchannel traffic to the Atum confirmed what many already suspected: the system would soon be a busy place. And while the Atum had not even gone through a quarter of its deep-space lifetime mission profile, its quarry was at the end of its ropes. The brief respite gained by the relocation of Wyoming to Ontario would soon be lost, as the scouting pickets of a multitude of separate, yet human, forces descended on the system. And when their quarry would be forced to burn at long last, the Atum would be there to finish the job.
While the Atum's captain continued to focus on its moving target, the fathering forces in Ontario had a more stationary objective in mind. The ruins on planet Sudbury were sure to attract scientists and treasure hunters, and the whole area would need to be secured against any unfriendly visitors. With the secured assurance of senior admirals and assistant directors, the LSF has made its bid to be the first on-scene. But while setting up a strongpoint could happen in a matter of days, defending it, and the passage back to California, would be a taller order. Despite assurances of the Lane Hackers losing most of its crack forces in the bid for the Niyodo, no serious local commander would expect anything but more grueling fighting. The prior cry of cabinet warhawks has become a reality, as the mangled force at Cochrane was allowed to regroup and receive reinforcements for the next battle. And with the Xenos keeping their own counsel within the system since the departure of DSE, only fools would assume they would be unaware of recent developments. Plumbing the depths of Sudbury would not be an easy task, but once the digital ink had dried on the signatures, the operation would be a go, no matter the cost. And the whole might of the Xeno alliance within the system would do their utmost to ensure that the final tally will substantial indeed.
The many wrecks and clouds of waste within the system would soon receive additions to their number. And under it all, grizzled junkers smugglers claimed to be able to detect an intermittent signal. One that when translated across the detectable spectra, produced a sort of harmonic resonance. It could almost be called a song - or the harrowing screech of the void.

The Crush - Weekday PvE
All event ids will earn double rewards and points for killing NPCs of the other event factions (Order and Xenos/Hackers are not on each other's config). Players will earn points but no credits for killing other players during this time.
The Junkers on Thunder Bay are taking advantage of the chaos and are offering large sums of credits for any recovered military salvage.
Local bases of operation are interested in recovering their pilots intact, and will also pay good money for enemy prisoners.
Periodically, more challenging NPCs with valuable loot will be spawned near Sudbury.
The Lehigh will oversee the defense of the California jump gate and the Robert Peary, a lightly reinforced bustard support ship maintaining the gate. The Liberty Rose, a reinforced Overlord-class dreadnought, will lead the Xeno assault.
The LSF strongpoint will be defended by 10 weapon platforms (can be shot by all guns), which must be destroyed before the Peary becomes killable. After this occurs, the Peary will attempt to exit the system through the gate and close it behind them, which will take time.
The Lehigh and the Rose will be flown by staff (40x reinforced, docking bay). They cannot be killed, though both can be disabled and thus removed from the event with further story consequences. The Robert Peary (10x reinforced) will also be flown by staff, and can be permanently killed after all weapons platforms are down.
Included event IDs will earn points and a $400k bonus for kills of the other sides' player ships.
Being credited with putting any event ship out of action will earn you 20 mil credits, split among the listed players.
Hot Pursuit - Sunday Convoy (Order vs Wild + Vagrants)
The Atum will pursue the Wyoming across Ontario. After 30 minutes of pursuit, the Wyoming will head towards the Vagrant Hive in Inverness.
Both ships will be flown by staff (40x, reinforced, ∞ powercore, docking bay). They cannot be killed, though both can be disabled and thus removed from the event, with further story consequences.
Included event IDs will earn points and a $400k bonus for kills of the other sides' player ships in Ontario and Inverness.
Being credited with putting either event ship out of action will earn you 20 mil credits, split among the listed players.
Rule Changes:
During the weekend, all event participants are limited to Gunboats and below.
During the weekend, non-included ids may not engage any event participants.
During the weekend, the respawn timer is reduced to 10 minutes for all event participants, and 5 minutes for Hackers & Xenos. This is subject to change to ensure fight balance.
Rewards:
All rewards require an INRP write-up about the event from the point of view of your character. Can be submitted as a report within the comm section, in a relevant faction channel, or as part of a story thread.
Custom Title
Requires participation in the event, event IDs only.
Prototype Components (500)
Requires 150 NPC kils. You may combine kills across all characters you played during the event. Can be claimed multiple times.
Tier-1 Fighter Codenames (x4)

Faction POBs in Ontario OR Cloaking Devices
Kills by tagged ships on the config will be summed, allowing the purchase of faction POBs at the following rates: Tier 3 = 60, Tier 2 = 40, Tier 1 = 20. The pobs will come with one free Storage Module and will be fully repaired and stocked with necessary supplies. However, they may only be placed in Ontario.
Alternatively, the tagged ship kill points may also be spent to purchase cloaks at the following rates: Mk1 = 15, Mk2 = 20, Mk2 adv = 20 Mk3 = 25.
Faction leaders should pm @Barrier with the final details.
Factions currently eligible for these rewards: Hackers ();--), LSF (LSS|), Order (Order| & E\V/), Vagrants (Vagrant), Wild (Das Wilde), Xenos (XA-)
Results
One of the LSF’s primary objectives in Ontario is to acquire control over the mysterious alien complex on Planet Sudbury – Site Alpha. Probing patrols launched from the Lehigh frequently faced opposition from local enemies and unknown hostiles generically callsigned Wendigos. The Tuscaloosa was withdrawn from Inverness to take on deep space provisions at Los Angeles, and issued with a brief to finally capture Sudbury’s orbit. Upon departing the Lehigh’s beach head perimeter in Ontario, the task force had expected to meet heavy resistance. Instead, their occupation of Sudbury orbit was uncontested.
The Xenos had been watching the LSF buildup at the Jump Gate. They executed their plan once the Tuscaloosa had departed and was too distant to intervene. A tide of haphazardly equipped Xeno fighters poured from the Georgian Ice Field and overran the LSF position with bloody wave attacks. At the head of this horde was the Liberty Rose, an obsolete Liberty Dreadnought – the ghost of the LNS Alabama. While the sophisticated Battlecruiser Lehigh was the Rose’s superior in every material sense, the elderly battleship brought mass and numbers to bear.
Both capital ships were heavily damaged in the resulting clash, and forced to abandon the field. As a result, the euphemistically named "repair ship” Robert S. Peary was left exposed and then destroyed. As the only vessel of its kind in Liberty, the authorities will now be unable to maintain the stability of the California Jump Gate's improvised repairs. Before long the gate will need to be deactivated to prevent a critical blowout, placing an inevitable countdown on local operations. Heavy casualties among the Peary’s elite Ageira and DSE crew has already whipped up a near unprecedented scandal, with Congressional committees calling for Director Maxwell’s head and the court martial of the Lehigh’s command staff.
The Xenos have suffered eye-watering losses, as Fort Ramsey willingly paid an extreme toll in blood and mangled bone to cripple Liberty's foothold. The unexpected victory has emboldened the separatist wing of the movement, bolstering their vision of Ontario as the capital of an ascendant Liberty Free Republic. Despite this, the combat wings lent by the other Xeno clans to support the offensive have returned to their bases. It will take time for Ramsey to reconstitute its shattered strength and repay the debts and obligations they incurred with the other clans to achieve their victory.
The bloodshed has also reopened ideological fissures with the Xenos’ isolationist wing, who resent the separatists’ success. They argue the fixation on Ontario is hubris, and the scores of lost fighters should have been expended to combat foreign goods and corporations in Liberty. This comes at a time when Liberty's working classes are being ravaged by the Bretonian drug Slog, and isolationist provocateurs are fixated on instigating a war they believe will decouple Liberty’s economy from its dependency on Kusari.
The Tuscaloosa for its part is now beginning to execute its mission, despite the risks. Expeditionary teams have been dispatched to Sudbury’s surface, and have placed antimatter blasting charges to rapidly excavate through the regolith. They hope to undermine the Alpha Site’s protective shield and gain access to the beam emitter’s inner mechanisms. With Ontario now politically radioactive, it is unlikely they will receive further reinforcements. Should they fail to complete their objective before the Jump Gate fail-safes execute, they will be forced to discard as much mass as possible to ration fuel for the long voyage home.
For months the Battlecruiser Wyoming has laid dormant, hiding among the churning ocean of scrap in the South Ontario Debris Sea. The Wild had long known it was a matter of when and not if The Order would finally track them down. For weeks, Order patrols had methodically swept the field, having already ruled out other locations. The Wyoming’s remaining fighters had scrambled to destroy one scout that strayed too close, and in the process revealed their presence. Scout activity increased sharply, with detection now inevitable in a matter of days, if not hours. Assessing their options as poor across the board, the Wild determined that their best shot was fleeing to Inverness, and hoping the Vagrants would attack an Order presence so close to their Hive.
When the Xenos attacked the California Jump Gate, the local comm net lit up with the chaos of battle. The Wyoming used this distraction to initiate a hard burn for the Georgian Ice Field. The Atum’s gaze was already fixed upon the area however, and was soon in hot pursuit. Within the ice field, Order interceptors immobilized the Wyoming, and its last stand began. The Wild fighter screen was obliterated during the grinding battle, with the Wyoming’s destruction apparently inevitable. When all seemed lost, the Vagrants made contact with an ultimatum: sever links with the Nomad mindshare and be subsumed into their own, and the precious Liberty thrall network would be saved.
Facing certain death, the Wild reluctantly agreed, concluding that survival to continue the work against humanity in some capability was preferable to their death and the loss of all progress. Immediately Vagrant heavy warforms jumped to Ontario and whisked the Wyoming away. Loathe to lose their prey so easily, the Atum mustered its forces and plunged through the collapsing drive rift. Arriving in orbit of Planet Veracruz in Vespucci, the battle reignited. The Atum wrought grievous damage on one of the warforms, with the crippled entity falling into Veracruz’s atmosphere. Despite this, The Atum had suffered increasingly severe damage itself, with fires raging across multiple decks. Breaking off, the battleship cloaked and fled into the Sonora Ice Field. Soon intercepted by the Gaians of Atcama Base, the two mutually suspicious groups are now locked in a parlay as they try to gauge one another’s intentions and reliability.
The Vagrants have been expanding their influence in Vespucci for some months. After the Liberty Insurgency’s destruction, the human wreckage of that defeat was scattered across Liberty and its Independent Worlds. After infesting a number of such survivors, the Vagrants had become aware of Fort Leniex. Using their own reserves of infested or indoctrinated humans, scouts had investigated and discovered the complex gutted by explosive sabotage. Some sections of the fortress were salvageable however, and it was here the Wendigos made their hidden lair. By the time the Wyoming had been spirited away to Vespucci, basic docking functions had been restored, and the sole surviving drydock was put to use.
The Wyoming is now being assessed for repairs, which will inevitably be complex and arduous. The battlecruiser has incurred years of minor damage, as well as the severe blows dealt by the Atum. Its crew have also been restrained and isolated aboard Leneix, readying them for the mental rites needed to sever their mindshare and reconnect to the Vagrants. The psychic trauma from such severance and melding can be deadly, inflicting terrible pain or even psychosis on both parties – such practice is normally taboo for the Nomads. Many remember the shock and anguish of the disconnection following the Nomad Wars, 35 years ago. Despite this, the potential prize for the Vagrants is too tempting to pass up.
Having effectively had the Liberty thrall network torn from their grasp, the Nomads’ reaction has been one of shock and rage. The isolated Wild of Stockton Depot are also fearful that they may be subjected to a similar ploy in the future, and have beseeched their masters to send reinforcements to repulse any potential Wendigo trickery. The two alien hives’ interests appear to have diverged to a hitherto unprecedented level, with their pawns now engaged in outright conflict as proxies to settle this growing dispute. While the Vagrants have acted aggressively to secure their position in Liberty, this dissonance also presents a startling opportunity for the forces of humanity to divide and conquer their alien enemies.
Unfortunately, the PvE config is unrecoverable due to data loss on Tuesday and a bug preventing server-side scoring on Wednesday and Thursday. If you did a lot of PvE, you can get your score by opening up DSAce.log (located in Documents\My Games\Freelancer), and searching for the words: 1 points awarded
The number of hits is your total score. Keep in mind that this will show other PvE events, so just make sure you're only looking within the past two weeks.
You can then post your total in a reply and claim the appropriate amount of Prototype Components (500 per 150 NPC kills).

such as?
Oh you'll find out, I'm about to summon it!
You're the last person I'd trust with conducting an event in a way that people would enjoy. You're making me want to sit this out with responses like this.

Edit Reason: Preemptively, because this has a lot of holes in it.
)
I admire the effort you've put into the game with event development, but how can you ensure that what happened in Kappa a few weeks ago won't happen again? It looks good in writing, but in practice it could be very different. I propose that the event be carefully reviewed so that it's enjoyable for all parties. Suggestions: Make it longer and with fewer parties involved (putting four factions into a single system for an event is too much; it'll be a mess). It could be subdivided into stages with fewer factions involved.
Think about it, and please—and this wouldn't hurt—contact the leaders of the factions involved, have a meeting. We're all grown-ups (I believe so...), we all have a life behind the game, but I trust you can reach an understanding so this is playable and fun.
I'm sure The Wild and Vagrants will love managing Faction PoBs in a system like Ontario with their easy access to supply commodities. Hell yeah, The Wild is going to take over the Bustard market with the help of Vagrant Exports Incorporated.
Fuck yes, more NPCs too. I had a ton of fun in Omicron Kappa with all that✦pristine✦ performance.

Hopefully that should be fixed. Turns out that having an event with 90+ people in a system with multiple asteroid fields and hundreds of manually placed solars was stressing the server a bit too much.
