Ship Infocards Contest

This is the current infocard for the Bretonia Battleship.

Built by the Royal Bretonia Navy to serve as both a symbolic and real display of their military might, this class is the cornerstone of their defenses.

Quite uninspired and completely lacking in detail. Apparently it even lacks a class name like most ships do. This is the case for quite a few of the capital ships that have been in the mod for a long time.

Since I'm busy ruining the mod's new infocards, we might as well ruin the old ones too.

So, this is the official start of the "This Old Ship Needs a New Infocard" contest. ANY old ship with an uncreative infocard is a valid target. What could win the contest? An infocard like this for the Liberty Assault Battlecruiser would be a decent entry:

Liberty government was always aware that their most dangerous potential enemies are not pirates or smugglers, but other Houses. For the case of full-scale war between Houses, the Liberty Navy has a secret weapon that may unexpectedly turn the tide of any battle - a heavily armored and fast Assault Battlecruiser, capable of breaching enemy formations and quickly taking out key capital ships of the opposing side.

Obviously even that one could use some editing, but it's more interesting than the Bretonia Battleship. While you're at it, cases like that one can be rewritten too. If you think you can do it better, then knock yourself out.

To enter the contest, just find a ship infocard that needs some spice, add spice, and drop it in here (do NOT pm them to me). Make sure that you provide the full name of the ship along with your submission. All submissions will be proofread, edited, and otherwise reviewed by every bigshot hothead on the dev team before actually going into the mod as a replacement, and you can't expect a mention in the mod credits, but you'll have the ability to brag to your pals that you described a fictional spaceship eight centuries in the future better than anybody else playing a mod based off an 8 year old Microsoft game.

And there's no substitution for that when it comes to impressing the ladies, let me tell you. Why do you think Dusty Lens really left, eh? The ladies tied him up and dragged him off after seeing the ship infocards he wrote for 4.85, that's what. But have no fear, that's not going to happen to me; that's why I want you all to write these up instead.

In short, it's just like at the carnival, step right up, anyone can be a winner. Multiple submissions for each ship are welcome. Descriptions may be merged together or chosen separately as the final choice.

Also, because I'm an organization nut, after posting your submission in this thread, also post it in this spreadsheet for easy access later.

"A few years before the outbreak of the Tau War, Bretonian military scientists, technologists and engineers were mandated with developing newer, more sophisticated ship designs to revamp the BAF's then aging fleets.

Among the handful of innovations that came out of this brainstorm was the Dunkirk class battleship. With its completely redesigned fusion power plant, updated and expanded weapons & countermeasure suite and thickened reactive armor, the Dunkirk-class battleship surpassed its predecessors in every conceivable way, quickly becoming the backbone of the Bretonian Armed Forces capital ship fleet."

Dunkirk (Bretonian Battleship)

The result of 8 centuries of development, the Dunkirk is the latest evolution of Bretonia's venerable battleship genus. Each of Bretonia's battleships can be traced back to the berths of New London's Southampton Shipyard, constructed by the Crown shipwrights of BMM. Acting as the monarch's iron fist in matters of offence and defence, the Bretonian battleship has stood a sombre sentinel over Bretonia, guarding the realm from any who might assail it.

In light of the war with Kusari and the current Gallic onslaught, these resolute and fearsome ships have become increasingly scarce due to grievious losses suffered by the Great Fleets. As appropriate to their namesake, the Dunkirk fleets have transformed abysmal loss into Phyrric victory, killing well above their number before falling themselves. The Dunkirk has become a quintessentially Bretonian symbol of undying courage and unyielding defence.

Providing the BAF HC likes it, this is my submission.

Rheinland Gunboat

Thought up by the clever engineers at Daumann Heavy Construction when Rheinland was first looking into developing vessels of this size, the qualities of this particular class of gunboat are a rare find across Sirius indeed. Sacrificing speed for power, the Rheinland Gunboat exhibits as thick a hull plating as possible whilst being incredibly small in comparison. A staple ship amongst the Chancellor's fleet, any potential threats would be foolhardy to even think of taking on one of these vessels without a small squadron to back them up.

Whether it was the invasion of these beasts into Liberty around 800 A.S. during the Nomad Wars, or even now with the skirmishes against the Liberty war machine, the Rheinland Gunboat continues to prove to both friend and foe alike that size is certainly not everything.

First attempt at seriously writing an info card. What'cha think?

Edit: Seems I can't for the life of me figure out how to make another paragraph inside of another cell. If someone could mash both rows for my entry on the R GB, that'd be much appreciated.
