They're basically programs that read FLs ini. files and then use them to make a map of systems so people can ind bases/jumpholes/ships/equipment. Datastorm is frowned on though, because it doesn't leave anything to the imagination. It'll show you everything...

flcompanion and datastorm are trade route calculators. they give you a list of what is available on each base, and another list telling you the best routes to take to sell these items. handy, but i find it more fun not to use them.
both can be found via google.
should you choose to use one of these programs, i would recommend flcompanion.
Thanks for the heads up. So these are cheater tools, eh? I'm generally not a fan, but I have to admit I've gotten pretty frustrated looking for jumpholes that I know for a FACT exist somewhere nearby, but due to a lack of patrol paths on the navmap, it took a million years to find.
A tool like this just might come in handy for those times!
