Good move actually. Now all is needed is to other factions do same, or better yet, to disband all oficial factions.
That way we will get rid of all buddy-buddy influence on important decisios and usless requests like change color of my faction thrusters, or make special perk on my factions, that requires lots of work, woting and implementation that prevent staf to work on important things like gameplay and Bug solving, or making thing easy to newcomers, After that we may end up in server worth logging-in, which will have more than 10 players as averege in 24 hours.
The thing is, people don't join a faction to be as ambitious as the person leading it. People who have that ambition create their own faction. People can be lucky about any mere footsoldier willing to log for the tag. I do understand the move on the people who did shitty moves on UN| tagged ships, though. Will be hard enough to redeem the faction's reputation anyway, so there is no need to make it more hard than necessary by keeping those individuals.

With that said, it is far safer to kick out everyone semi active and then fill your numbers up with people you have confidence in. That is the way you build a healthy faction with good RP. Getting started again is a guarantee that you will get new members to try harder and be more dedicated. Good luck mate. Huge plus from me for trying and getting your hands dirty. Cheers!
Official faction or not. To kick out semi active people is a mistake if you ask me. Semi active means, they will log from time to time. When they are still in the chat and see others talking about logging, they will probably log too. That's how it works with almost all factions theses days i guess. Especially with little niche factions like the Unioners.
When you kick them, they will most certainly not come back, because they are pissed or something similar. This wouldn't be a problem with a huge playerbase. But Discovery doesn't have a huge playerbase anymore and will not have that in the future. Sad enough
Kicking horribly inactive peeps is ok though. Especially Skype (or discord) chats, with inactive peeps are often a problem as in 'Oh wow. 30 members. We big faction' feeling and in the end only 6 peeps are active or semi active.
But in the end, it's the decision of the faction leader. And it looks like, this is already settled. So this discussion is pretty much obsolete. We can just +1 or -1 from now on. I guess this doesn't change anything at all.

True enough but I was actually waiting from someone to write what sasapinjic wrote. EXACTLY what was written there is the truth. And none can deny it. We need to get free from those ties. And something else is really bothering me, which may not be related to this thread but since we are debating stuff, is that we are following some inRP story that was developed by devs. I appreciate their help, I really do, but sometimes maybe we should do stuff that are out of that RP. For example I am planing to revive Kusari, but I perhaps wont be able to do that due to the fact that its RP was already wrote for the next 3 inRP years. But never mind that, this is about Unioners, and I really am supporting this idea. Change from the root is hard, but also necessery.
^ oh, i doubt those mentioned elements will react to my post. They are veterans in swaying masses, and know best thing to do is to ignore post like this and post some flood material, couse best way to fight truth is desinformation or do magic trick of divert atention to something that dont have importantce.
Before turning this all into a conspiracy and you all find out I am actually an admin in all this madness, take a moment to think more about what you guys have come to play in contrast to who actually writes and develops the game. Yes, people will disagree to things, human nature. But the thing some of you ultimately fail to realize is that the devs and admins actually have something that seems to have worked well for a large number of people for a good number of years now, ten or something years or close isn't it guys?
Official factions are there to help develop that npc factions story and ideas, certain responsibilities and obligations. These attributes are being exercised by Tae based on his knowledge of his faction. A choice, be it the right or wrong one, which is rightfully his as faction leader as it is the rights of devs to plan out a story years in advance, using what is current and fitting to the over-all idea of the story.
Tae's decision should simply reflect his own opinions and interests in keeping his faction alive in which he believed was best. He offered those who were booted an opportunity to get in touch with him to stay if they chose, a move that perhaps could have awoken slumbering members into thinking about getting more involved in the faction just that little bit more. The opposite also happens, upon which he got rid of people who simply had little interest in the faction any more.
In my opinion, he made a tough call and he takes the responsibility for it. He owned it. For that I credit him and good luck with your strategy.
