Honestly I would like to know what the exact reason for this change is? It just seems like another senseless change that has no proper background, maybe someone can explain why exactly it was changed. Simply a small explanation would be nice.
I do get why München was changed to Munich. It sounds almost identical, but it's way easier for english speakers to pronounce. I mean have you tried saying "München"?
However with Köln I don't quite get it. It's not that hard, and in my opinion - as a german, to say the least - it just isn't fitting with Rheinland. I mean, it just sounds *way* too french.
That'd be like switching Ile-de-France to "Isle of the French" because it's english. Just doesn't fit, imho

Things are not pointless when people clearly care about them.

I can understand the change that everything has to be in english but it just looks horrible.
I think as long as nobody makes a thread or a vote that colonge sounds for him better or looks better. Such changes shouldn't happen.
Often it looks like such changes get decided behind closed doors in a bunker deep in the middle of nowhere and the community has to live with the changes. As community shouldn't we all have a chance to decide such things before they happen ?
