I would certainly like to see this tried out for a while if possible.
There are many benefits to this line of thinking, new tactics that could be used.
If it is indeed possible then lets give it a shot and see how it works.

I have found that the less temptation to metagame, the less metagame. Removing the system viewer would not only reduce that form of metagaming, it would eliminate it.
And for the people who argue that one would not jump to another system that was unknown, you are correct. No one in their right mind would do that. So hire an escort and have him scout ahead.

When I play, I figure my scanners can tell me what's in adjacent systems to where I am. I won't go after someone if they're on the other side of Sirius.
