Recent ones? Frankly, I think the Forums have become much more civil in the last months.

You cannot change this by trying to have a rule for everything, you cannot change this if unfairness is witnessed, you cannot change it if people do not take responsibility for their action and you cannot change this if any rules you have are not enforced.
This part I would agree with. The key to having a community that gets along somewhat is that the rules in place are enforced fairly. Without that, there is constant distrust, and the feeling that trying to talk reasonably to people is absolutely useless.
Also agreed to most of what Sol said, especially the part about controlling someone else's actions and l limitting yourself to someone else's wishes.
What you should follow is rules, your ID restrictions. and canon RP lore, and not the wishes of people who think they have the right to control your actions because they are more influencial in discoGC.
There should how ever be a balance between those 2 views. If you're the type that says "lol ur getting mad over a game Q_Q" you're pretty much saying "f u I dont care about you and I love to make people mad". If you're the type that says "You cant attack me although Im your canon lore enemy because I wanna talk and RP is only talking" you're expecting people to break their own game experience so that you can do what ever you want.

That depends entirely on what they find fun. Wouldn't you agree, Sindy?
But Joe, think about your old Motto:
Book of Noted Wrote:YOUR FUN IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS SOMEONE ELSE'S FUN[/url] - JihadJoe
which is flexibly applied depending on whether people are on your Skype list or official faction or neither.
Personaly, I think its really cool that a faction like [LN] invites nomad Battleships to the most populated places of liberty and shoots indy LN who try to drive it away. Or that they threaten indy navy players who attack pirates who hang out near lawful stations. Or that they IRP mock indy navy who are getting massacred while they watch and do nothing. Or that generally when ever you meet a "vet" you get the feeling that what RP status of factions dont matter a thing, and the only thing that matters is whether they are your Skype-buddy or not. Or that some people consider it fair that most battles are noobs vs vets because the vets always oorply band together and the same people win 99.9999% of the time, while its called unfair when people try to ballance the skill deficit with the efforts the got from making credits (which is the common idea in pretty much any computer game there is, and which the other side can just as well), while the same people who call that unfair say that the same vets should get additional OP gear that noobs can never get unless they are part of the chosen few who the vets choose to give it to. Or that when you side with said noobs so they get a chance in hell in a fight and that means also using greater number of ship size you'll get insulted and nagged at, but the same people who nag at you are the same guys who first attack you 1 on 1 on their reaver chars, when they cant kill you they went 2 on 1, when they still cant kill you 3 on 1, and when you dock and they couldnt get a blue message they follow you to the next System and do the same, thats totally cool and space is dangerous and dont Q_Q u noob its only a game.
But... when you do that, are you really abiding to your purported principle or respect of other people's fun, or are you just being someone with who its absolutely useless to try to talk to reasonably?

Think about it.
You're still an idiot, K. That's certainly not changed. Probably the most eloquent idiot I've met, but an idiot none the less.
You managed to produce a wall of words which deliberately misrepresent facts... I won't really bother rising to it, beyond saying that if you wish to make these assertations, you're gonna have to prove their validity. Actually prove it. All you've ever done is shout and scream and screech your way around saying that X and Y is evil and corrupt and favouritist and yadda blah, then used your own confirmation bias to find links between all sorts of totally unrelated events in order to push an agenda where, shit, K... I don't even know what you even want any more.
You've been just using whatever catchphrase comes to mind and is the one people are most worked up about at the time, because, yanno, if the flavour of the month is caps, then caps be the argument... But whatever...
I do find your obsession kinda touching though.
In the post you just quoted, all I was saying is that cheating is bad, mkay?

I've been playing my LN vhf lately, since I know people usually accuse me of playing strictly Xeno IDs to exploit the ID and kill transprots or something or that I gather unlawfuls en mass and troll lawfuls.
Both sides are retards. There physically no way you can have fun regarding pvp, without making someone upset. There is no way.
RP, yes. Just RPing in front of Manhattan is always fun for both sides involved. PvP is not. Unless it is Conn. And unless you are winning.

He's right applying to the current situation on server. Because you can have fun only by getting into duel or into balanced group fight.
Under balanced group fight I mean fight with same number of similar ships on sides. Under duel I assume a duel on similar ships one against one while one of the sides is not trying to hug something like stationed BS or so.
In those cases loosing is not an upsetting factor.
"YOUR FUN IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS SOMEONE ELSE'S FUN" - that's just plain lie. While from some distant point of universe it may be true in everyday player terms this is just false. Player is always aware of his own interenst better than of interest of others. You cannot expect one to entertain others, only himself. While civil manner is required, it's the system which should maintain proper balance between the players.

To be fair, the quote is being used out of context, there... I was vaguely annoyed when n00bl3t quoted it in his 'book'.
If I remember right it was something I said literally years ago, some time before I became an admin, I think, and was directly relating to a certain situation.
YES blame the people.
Remember setmsg? Removed because of Abuse. Setmsg wasn't a bad feature, but the players were the ones who abused it, along with everything else and it got removed.
On a MS flight simulator server I tried to join a while back, there was an admin/ban/passworded server system but overall no anticheat because players "simmers" responsible (and because flightsims don't attract the ***holes that normal games do since there's no cash/points system and the only way to grief is if you ram another plane but then you'd have to be really skilled to do so and since the victim doesn't lose anything so he just laughs it off, you get banned for a day and no real harm is done), and the atmosphere was pleasant.
Everytime I propose a possibly abusable idea or change, players scream "ABUSE" but- lemme ask you this- who is going to abuse it?
In the choice of having more toys than less, I would advocate having more toys. This is a game, we come here to have fun and play with toys. People who abuse will always find ways to abuse, but limiting the amount of toys that non-abusers can play with will just drive people away.
I will say about the elitism that Karlotta mentioned, while I haven't played much as my lns-labc or my lpi-gb to fully appreciate the situation, I hate it when officials tell me to **** off when I disrupt their "Fair" snub fight with reavers etc. by (not bot feeding, but) shooting my capship guns at the bad guys. If you want a fair fight, take it to Conn! The RP enviornment is for inRP actions, such as preventing dudes on your side from dying, that kind of thing. Your elitist fair fight bullcrap is the oorp thing going on here, m'kay?
Jump drives, infinite cloak, supposedly weird gun combinations, all supposed to be fun stuff, along with a ton of other (potential) features never seeing the light of day because of possible abuse, which imo is real sad.
No atmosphere? GTFO.
The propeller is the greatest invention of all time.
