Well we could argue that the Lane guns made sense as well. It is just annoying for everyone. Piracy is hard enough as it is. And I am saying this as IC| 2ic.
*Cough* I also do trading for all most all my time on Disco,
I am saying that they are a logical in RP reason. I mean this structures cost billions of credits, and they are gonna be left unguarded.
-Also bare in mind that do pirate when i have people around to do it with

The "Piracy is already hard - we should make piracy easier" attitude is getting on my nerves.
Yes. Piracy should be harder. Things should be shooting at you. You are not going to pirate someone easily in front of a planet. Do it in places that are less patrolled and less monitored.

Did we care at all the guns shooting at us? No. No we didnt.
Considering there's a Reaver, CFH, LR- and a bunch of really old Scyllas present in that screenshot I am extremely sceptical as to when it was taken and do not agree with the '11 days ago' the link states. I highly doubt that screenshot was taken when docking ring missiles were a thing, or when LIS got it's gun placement altered to cover the Manhattan area even more.

So instead of making piracy a little bit more easier, lets make trading extremely safe so you can make millions of credits while pirates get jack, right?
Considering that NPCs disrupt lanes so frequently, attack transports carrying cargo, while only being shot by passing lawfuls and/or convoys, players should be shot from everywhere, hell, why won't we include trade-lanes with base turrets?
This is a RP server, when interacting with someone, you focus between you and the other person, not by some overpowered turret that an affiliated object has.

And to have your precious trading impacted by a change that favours pirates would be detrimental to your experience, wouldn't it? Fortunately, the mod doesn't cater to power traders.
Hello @Lythrilux ,
First of all i would like to clear some information since your message show a terrible miss-information.
I play lawful, unlawful and quasi lawful characters, I do care for traders and pirates interactions and vice versa.
You might know me by the Nickname "BMF|-Malmsteen" so i have no idea whom you mean by "Power Trading" here, but let me explain just in-case you was referring to me by power trading.
The BMF is Bretonia Mining and Fabrication, so we are not power traders, but we are miners, traders, fabricators, ships rental service and base builders. We also have a security wing for escort etc.
I hope that you didn't get offended by first reply when i asked not to follow your idea. It is simply my point of view and i mean no disrespect to you at all.
Thanks for reading and have a good day.

Hello,
I understand your point of view, but i think that one of the normal situations is that the gates being defended by a heavy firepower, because simply if i am a pirate character, then i can camp with some pirate friends on both sides of the gates and start pirating everyone around easy since there is nothing firing at me, so it will be as if the pirate is camping at the middle of trade lanes, which gives the traders, miners, builders and civilians no protection at all on the trade lanes and the gate area. I see this unfair for the the non-pirate characters, and that's what i meant from my words. Thanks for the information, i am not that old on discovery to recognize the times when these gates were defenseless.

How often do you fly unlawful / pirate characters?
Sure, please ask any question anytime sir
I play unlawful characters for about 80% of my time i spent on the discovery RP server but lately focusing more on
quasi lawful and lawful, because i have less experience since i played less time for lawful characters.

No one said anything about making trading safer.
Dear god. Why are you guys complaining about some little guns on bases?
yes this is an RP server.
inRP pirates come out next to planets with no immediate threat to them? Fat chance.

Shield breakers, not all guns. There's a huge difference. Or, just remove one ring next to the jumpgate/move gates a bit away from TLs, as stated by someone.
