You've gone and edited it to a more meek and mild "the fall of new london is at hand", and come here to make war and chest thump on the forums, because outrage is in vogue.
Shame on you.
I'm sorry, what? What are you talking about?
My edit was 'the fall od new london is at hand". Od, changed into of.
You are awful.
Edit: Legitimately awful.
I mean, maybe. My memory is notoriously garbage and I'm not going to sit here making accusations when I know that's the case. It's possible I'm misremembering, and if I am I apologize, and I rescind that statement.
It still strikes me as pretty garbage for someone who loves Gallia so much though to do a 360 like this just because it's, what, cool to fight about? :\
Gallia hasn't won, so claiming them to be the victor is either a major red flag or a classic case of people having too big an ego to balance it, which since it's Gallia I can absolutely understand. Regardless, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the system staying Edinburgh, or Orkney, and the Gallic factions simply referring to them as Aquitaine or Brittany (or Bretagne, whichever), or Leeds as Agincourt. It kept the vanilla consistency, it kept people happy, it didn't make threads like this and it sure as hell didn't seem to make a difference.
I'm blatantly not in favor of this. The war is still on and while renaming systems definitely sounds like a Gallia thing to do, there's no reason why every faction in Sirius should suddenly accept an update to their StarChart32.dll and suddenly accept this new change that Gallia has shoved forth.

Just because I like Gallia it doesn't mean I'm going to sit on my ass and agree with everything about it like Lanakov does.
I still just wish people would be patient and watch how things go within the next few weeks. I expect this war will end with everyone hating the ending at this rate though, not just Bretonia and Gallia. Because this is Discovery, and status quo is sacred.

- Gallia has been sitting on Edinburgh and Orkney for almost a decade now.
- Two Sirian houses and one branch of Hispania acknowledge Gallia as a legitimate superpower.
- Next update, it's going to be this exact same thread, except it'll be devtonia again.
It's always a push/pull with Bret/Gallia. It's going to be a push/pull until the thing ends. I would like to point out that Gallia did just lose an entire system not so very long ago, and that Bretonia, as others have so aptly pointed out, is sitting atop Omega-3 and Omega-49 in much the same way Gallia did previously with Edinburgh and Orkney.
There's nothing at all stopping Bretonia and Liberty from calling these systems as they once were called, and nothing at all stopping them from fighting to reclaim them. The new names, if anything, are truer to the current state of things than the former. They're no longer contested, especially now with Council held Roussillon out of the picture.
This is not the end of the world.
I'm mean is just be intrigued to find out what the stance of the Houses and any other important powers is. I see it like a Crimea situation really, and even though Kusari and Rheinland acknowledge Gallia as a legitimate super power, I don't think that necessarily translates into them disregarding the sovereignty of Bretonian territory. I can see Corsairs falling in line to respect the claim though.
Perhaps we need an inrp forum where leading cartographers from the Houses come together lol. CART| faction anyone?
When Mehmed the Conqueror entered the city that deserved him such an epithet, after the customary three days of uncontrolled pillage had ended, he went straight towards the Hagia Sophia. It is reported that he saw one of his soldiers there, chipping the marble with a pick or a shovel. When Mehmed asked him why he was doing that, the soldier replied: "For the faith". Mehmed ordered him executed.
Then he sent one of his men, either a soldier or a priest, atop the cathedral's main choir balcony, who cried out the Islamic creed: "La ilaha illallah" (There is no god but (Mohammad's) God). Mehmed relished in the majestic resonant qualities of the cathedral, but also in the profound symbolism of the deed: what a great and ancient empire he had brought down, and what a great and ancient legacy is on his shoulders to continue. He will not destroy it, but embrace it, bend it to his will (not much differently from the traditional Islamic approach to wives), and make it even greater.
@Lanakov Now, the purpose of me holding this history lesson. Would you mind doing something symbolic on Gaia or Toulouse? Only you possess the linguistic erudition necessary for such.

This isn't really about patience or hating how the war is going. I really do not care that Gallia took full control of Edinburgh or Orkney. They took Leeds before, so what? At least they didn't suddenly rename Leeds. (Surprisingly the layout stayed the same too surprised_face.jpeg)
Since this is, honestly, such a minor thing, a poll on the systems rename could just fix everything. Rename them back if the majority wants it that way, specify in some infocards that Gallia specifically calls them the new names, because now they own them. When Gallia takes over every single other house, sure, I'd see it making sense to rename everything in their own image, but not currently.
I don't want New London to get changed into New Paris 2 or something if the ending involves it getting taken over by the gauls.

Food for thought.
You got this part right at least, and I don't mean a few debris fields and battleship wrecks. Genuinely don't be surprised if colors on the map have changed when all is said and done.
