or simple: MISSIONS CREATE MORE INTERACTION THAN TRADE BECAUSE YOU REMAIN WITHIN VERY SMALL ZONE AND SO ANYONE CAN COME AND INTERACT
Reminder: Trade forces you to go through several of such very small zones where anyone can come and interact (called bottlenecks).
But if we gotta stress the activity concentrating benefit of missions, why not make good use of that feature?
Idea: restrict gunboat and higher difficulty missions to bases in warzones, and if required, rearrange destroy_vignette zones to be near combat areas and easily accessible by both sides of an open conflict.
This was the approach that was always intended for phase 2 of the PVE rework anyway. Top tier missions will be located in conflict systems and phased out of other areas. I think Kaz is also considering some code amendments to account for larger ships just farming smaller ones and making bank while taking absolutely no risks whatsoever.
I mean they already crushed the value of most patrols, which often spawn in missions as well, so that already reduced mission value, and for snubs, with BMM, Rogues, Mollies, Police Avengers and what not, they have really insane loadouts or are just SHFs and will obliterate you if you hold still for more than 2 seconds, I'm not sure what the overall cap profit is, but I get about 50mil from two high value gunboat missions which nearly kill my scylla cause they sometimes spawn Bounty Hunter Destroyers which took two of us to bring down, and it ended up being more profitable to kill gunboats than try to mess with threshers that take forever to kill and have infinite powercore in comparison to ours.
Should it be equal to trading, I guess, but people will probably still do missions even if they're slightly less profitable than trading, because it's just simply far more fun to do.
Just make trading missions or have more trading events where there's bonus for commodities only rather than a pvp event, and or/also make trading missions if that's even possible.
Don't want missions being touched, leave them alone.

This is reasonable honestly. I just want to say for comparison sake I'm making sometimes 300mill an hour with a group of 2 friends doing comparable missions. You can see where the issue lies I'm sure.
I think missions are fine as it is, its a nice hub of interactions, though everyone was quite excited to this feature and moved his -insert faction here- battleship for some fun. I personally find this mission grind as nice way to dilute usual trading. Although with new reality and "economy balace" from Zoner perspective, as all ores became useless, there's not much left to do as Zoner. So people dusted off their Zoner caps.
Powertrading to get a cap
for you to get a cap
that generates roughly the same income as a powertrading ship, even more if you minmax like you did in the OP.
I see nothing wrong here.
edit: bruh, what a hostile thread.
I'll sympathize with Karst that mission income should probably be reduced by roughly 25% to 33%.
edit2: on a slightly unrelated note, as someone who trades just for the heck of it - there are virtually no pirates anymore and tonnes of powertraders, where did all the pirates go? You could easily make 50m by sitting in a Borderworld/Independent worlds for like an hour or so [provided you pirate each trader for 7.5m~10m]
Please don't make money making more difficult than it is now. This will only harm community.
Ppl should have faster way for the stuff now, so they could focus on some non-trading/mission making activity.

Heavy solo battleship with MKViii die to high level cruiser/dessie missions and you end up close to 0 bars very often when you want to have high $/hr with tank loadout.
The only thing that's an issue from cap perspective is the Cruiser+ vs gunboats giving too much money for no risk or even damage - you can just nerf GB prizes in tomorrow's patch and all is well
And then focus on making trading more fun and/or buffing profits from it.

I have started piracy right away when i came back to the game.
What happened? People were upset, sad, enraged, i have been insulted. Most provide OORP reasons like "this is my only day to make money, please just go away"
When people are not upset? They just send you the cash and go on their ways. There are 0 police activity against pirates, hence you are just giving more attention to the game to earn less than a powertrading session.
Zero incentive for piracy, zero. I had fun pirating when VFK were around in Omegas. They left, and i can just pirate with no opposition what-so-ever.
Multiple times I have tried to get people to a pirate station where they will be paid to deliver us the goods, they always said let me pay and go. I totally understand that and thats why I just do missions now. More fun than shooting transports, more income than piracy, you just dont get blue messages. And well who cares about a blue message against a goddamn transport? lol
Cruiser+ is ok or even bad, the problem is mostly just BCs and BS doing gb/snub missions solo and getting 17-19 mil in less than 5 mins of fighting for no risk.
