History

Mister Felix White, who founded White Shipping, was not always, so to say, "white". In fact, that wasn't even his surname. He was born in a remote village on Planet Crete. His father was a farmer and his mother was a housewife. When he grew up, he was supposed to become a farmer too. And he did. But one day he got into a shady deal of sorts, which ended horribly wrong. He had to flee.

He blended into the Junkers and took the alias he still carries, Felix White. It was the very opposite of what he considered himself to be -- in Latin, Felix means "happy", and due to the nature of the work he was doing, his hands were never white. Especially methaphorically. Namely, all that he had learned from the catasthrophic scheme on Crete, was how to prevent the next one from becoming a catasthrophe. He dirtied his hands with handing the dirty money he made with dirty work to the right, usually very clean, hands. Over time he accumulated enough money to pay someone else for doing the physical work.

That someone else was Cornelius Kirk, a Bretonian coming from an impoverished noble family. Kirk was, in fact, so impoverished that he had to work for the Junkers, and for no other than Felix. It was mostly due to his problems with the relations with his family, however, for which himself was mainly to blame. But never talked much about it. The essence of Kirk's status was that he was dependant on Felix, almost to the point of being his own man. That is why Kirk had to accept doing the physical work. He always wore his white, plastic gloves, though.

One day a small, independent shipping company went bakrupt, possibly not without Felix' or Kirk's involvelent. Whatever the case, they had to sell their assets cheaply, and Felix was the one to snatch the opportunity. He took the risk of purchasing two transport-class vessels, one for him and one for Kirk, and sending them into space. It is true that the Junkers never liked when their members separated, as whoever has been a Junker for a time of their life knows too much about the deals they had made, but a quiet thrust of several banknotes into the right pockets tends to solve that problem. The transports were bought with a one-time discount after all.

Felix and Kirk painted their new logo on their ships, and thus White Shipping came to be. Although they are not Junkers any more, they still behave in a similar way. They will ship any cargo anywhere, as long as it pays off. Money is the only thing that matters in the modern society, because it is the most widespread unit of power. Whether White Shipping will ever reach the goals that Felix dreams of, is on the future to reveal. Whatever the case, his name can certainly be interpreted as a good omen.
