The Battleship Wessex was originally stationed outside the research facility Sunderland when it was first being built, but after many years it was decided that the battleship was unnecessary as the alien ruins were completely lifeless. Shortly after the Nomad War, however, it was decided to station the newly commissioned Battleship Grimsby nearby to reassure the public.
