This ship is a heavily-modified Scimitar, sometimes used by Lane Hackers prior to the development of the Falchion. Recent advances in both of those fighters, however, have rendered the Shamshir almost obsolete outside of its one specific function - electronic warfare. With an impressive array of jammers and scanners, the Shamshir can render enemy explosives completely ineffective and communications nearly impossible. Rounding out this impressive package is the Decoy System, an expensive bit of countermeasure technology that deploys a solid, scanner-fooling decoy Shamshir to allow the real one to escape while the fake draws fire.

In order to support all of this, some sacrifices were necessary. Armor had to be stripped to accomodate cooling systems, and missile guidance was completely removed, though it can still support modified self-guiding Cruise Disruptors and most Mines.

At this point, there are only two Shamshirs known to be in use, both by Outcasts. It is quite likely that more exist, but their overly-specialized nature, along with the difficulty in piloting them effectively, has ensured a limited production at best.
