Planet Tangier is a young, terrestrial planet orbiting it's sun at a considerable distance. It is a cold world with a minimal atmosphere that is just able to support life. With its thin crust however temperatures are known to fluctuate and gravitational and electromagnetic disruptions are common. Large quantities of carbon and aluminium have been noted underground, surrounded by large, compressed oxygen pockets. Considerable iron, titanium, magnesium and other metal deposits have also been noted.

Planet Tangier is a young, terrestrial planet orbiting its sun at a considerable distance. It is a cold world with barely enough atmosphere to support life, still largely burning under its moderately thin crust. The planet has hundreds of active volcanoes and massive earthquakes frequently ravage portions of its surface. Tangier has a lot of small, but easily accessible mineral deposits at the surface. Iron, aluminium and magnesium are mined in small quantities by the Red Hessians whenever possible, then sent up to Viernheim.

Tangier was once the scene of a colonisation attempt by the Corsairs although the settlement was thought to have failed and was abandoned. Later attempts by the Corsairs to discover the fate of their missing colonists were unsuccessful and the colony and its inhabitants were declared lost.  The planet fell under the Hessian sphere of influence after the Casablanca offensive of 811 A.S. Hessian survey expeditions to the planet also revealed an abandoned Corsair installation but no trace of its occupants. The survey also found large amounts of minerals beneath the surface. In 816 A.S. a second expedition was launched to the planet, this time in order to construct a mining facility. Until a docking ring could be built, the mining colony would launch and receive specially designed atmospheric craft straight to or from the planet's thermosphere, supplying the orbiting Viernheim base with minerals ready for export to other Red Hessian bases.

Tangier has been previously surveved by Corsairs, before suddenly becoming parts of Hessian space after the Casablanca offensive of 811 A.S., after which Hessian survey expeditions to the planet revealed several abadoned Corsair mining camps. In 816 A.S. multiple small expeditions were launched to the planet, this time in order to occupy existing and contruct new mining facilities. Plans were made to build a docking ring, but with little effect due to shortages of supplies necessary to initiate construction. The mining colonies on Tangier are supplied using small atmospheric shuttles, who bring down food and water, and ship up the raw minerals mined.

The planet is still a scene of contention within the system. With their control of the planet by no means secure the Hessians maintain a vigorous defence of the area.

This planet is a dangerous colony to work in. Massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are frequent on Tangier, causing many mining camps to be lost. Still, the Red Hessians have little choice, as the raw materials they gather here are desperately needed to construct the new capital warships for their cause. The amount of people on the surface varies, but is generally around 5.000 miners.
