Viernheim is a newly built Red Hessian base orbiting the planet Tangier, commissioned in early 815 A.S, and designated to assist in the construction of the planet's docking ring once all materials are assembled and the Corsair threat removed. Apart from its primary function, it also serves as a refueling base, and more importantly: a resource storage platform. Resources mined from the planet's surface are transported to this base using atmospheric shuttles. From there, conventional freighters and transports deliver these goods to their destinations. Relatively well equipped and manned, Viernheim is able to support its own fighter garrison and a number of small capital ships for defense purposes, while still retaining at least two transport docking bays for incoming and outgoing shipments. The Corsairs have occasionally attempted to destroy the facility, with the most recent attack occurring in late 816 A.S., but the heavy Red Hessians defences have always managed to repel these attacks.
