Sancerre was built in 381-386 AGS by Arcadia Materiaux Distribution. After the company went bankrupt in 414 AGS, most of its property was bought out by Gallic Metal Service. The price paid for Arcadia was ridiculously low considering the good state of the facility. Speculations arose that GMS bribed the officials to create terms for Arcadia's bankruptcy auctions that no competing corporation could fulfill. However, no charges were filed, and the public was more concerned with blaming Arcadia's management for thousands of deaths in Berry earthquakes.

Sancerre's primary function is mining Beryllium from the surrounding Aubigny field. The field's Beryllium deposits had been very large when the facility started its operations. Deposits that were easily mineable were depleted in less than a hundred years. Later, miners had to switch to more complex mining methods that involved cutting the asteroids apart and carefully processing the substances inside. By now, most of the Beryllium that is at all possible to mine was already extracted from Aubigny asteroids, and it is estimated that in 3-5 years Sancerre will have to stop operating since there will be nothing of value to mine in its surroundings.
