Operated by Solar Engineering, Abbeville Production Facility is a relatively modern production center built on the site of Abbeville Mining Station, once owned by Nery Space Construction, a company that no longer maintains any space operations. The facility was opened in 644 AGS and soon became one of the primary producers of superconductors in Gallic space. Solar's management was motivated to build a station in an area of space with a supposedly declining economy by the proximity of cheap labour forces. Indeed, the payment rates on Planet Amiens were then and are now among the lowest across Gallic space, and Solar Engineering does not pay its employees in Abbeville a dime more than Amiens' average wage, because with the current high unemployment planetside, people are happy to get whatever work they can. Besides, the modern facility provides far better accomodations and safety standards than most of the more dated industrial stations.
