A design as ancient as the first days of Liberty's expension into the stars, the mastodon was originally designed to house massice engines that enabled her to make the pre-modern voyage to adjacent systems of the burgeoning nation. As technology developed to allow for more compact and efficient engine technology the fundamental of the vessel held fast, increasing her cargo storage and deeo space capabilities in kind. Forgoing heavy armaments for heavy armor, the mastodon is designed to handle the rigors of deep space travel beyond the confines of interplanetary boundaries in Liberty's ongoing efferts to secure the ressources needed to ensure her growth and survival.
