Laval Shipyard was built in 578 AGS by EFL Oil & Machinery. It was one of the first stations built in order to restore the economy of the Maine system, and the government granted EFL huge subsidies and tax breaks in order to make the facility profitable. Moreover, two trade lanes that were built to Laval from Mayenne and Le Lude were fully financed by the government. EFL enjoyed these benefits for over a hundred years, when it was long evident that Maine's space stations were in no way threatened by the Normandy separatists. EFL went through several troublesome corruption hearings in the Estates-General and funding was cancelled circa 680 AGS. By that time Laval was already one of the largest facilities producing civilian ships in Gallia. The Royal Navy also used its facilities to construct supply ships and assemble certain hull parts for larger military craft.
