Biography

Name: Marco Cabulb

Age: 32

Position: Captain of The Pegasus, formerly known as The AngelWing

Marco was born into a Zoner family which has an age old tradition of space exploration. Although he was born in a Freeport, he has no permanent home, he spent most of his life with his family onboard his father’s deep space exploration vessel – The AngelWing. As he grew up, he learned the ways of his family and their strong desires of discovery. In fact, he was named after the ancient Earth explorer Marco Polo by his father.

To him, The AngelWing was his life. He followed his father’s footsteps, through Neural Net education and real life experience he turned out to be exactly the leader his father wanted him to be. He has become resourceful, calm and courageous.

However, disaster struck The AngelWing recently as Marco’s father has died of old age recently. He lived an explorer’s life, trying to reach the furthest corners of The Sirius sector. As the eldest son, Marco was chosen to inherit his father’s Corvo class exploration cruiser and to continue his goal of reaching those stars far beyond.

Upon the old captain’s death, the crew of The AngelWing was scattered. All that was left was a few automated drones and an ancient ship which condition was beyond belief. However, Marco did not give up. He exhausted nearly all of his contacts all over The Sirius and got himself a crew composed mainly of his close relatives and best friends.

Today, as the new captain of The AngelWing, Marco Cabulb takes her and her crew far beyond the stars, to seek out new phenomenon, to meet new friends and most importantly, to fulfill his family’s dreams.

The AngelWing

Below are the biographies of the most important crew members onboard the exploration vessel "The AngelWing", a Corvo Class Zoner Deep Space Explorer under Captain Marco Cabulb's command.

Name: Hailey Cabulb

Age: 25

Position: Chief of Science and Astrometry, Sub-Commander

Hailey is Marco’s intelligent yet defiant sister. She was born 7 years later than Marco. Same as Marco, most of her childhood was spent onboard The AngelWing. However, as she reached adolescence, her crave for knowledge grew uncontrollably. Since her family roots as a Zoner prevented her from going to a house university to further develop her academic skills, Hailey rebelled against her father and left The AngelWing in pursuit of knowledge at The University of Cambridge.

Despite her background, Hailey remained at the top of her class at university and graduated as an honour student. She was then accepted immediately by Cryer Pharmaceuticals to work as a researcher. With her assistance, Cryer even made major breakthroughs in medical science concerning Cardamine addiction.

When his father died, Marco realised his sister’s potential as a part of his new crew and tried to persuade her to join him. Hailey chose to honour her family’s traditions and left Cryer.

At the moment, Hailey is the chief of science and astrometry onboard The AngelWing. As the smart one, her vast knowledge is respected by everyone.

Name: Julian Yamato

Age: 35

Position: Chief of Engineering and Tactical

Julian was born and raised on Planet New Tokyo. He was brought up in a militaristic family and joined the Kusari Naval Forces at the minimum age permitted. Throughout his career in the KNF, he served as a senior engineer onboard the KNF Mitsubishi.

During an engagement with the Bretonian Armed Forces in Tau 31, The Mitsubishi found herself greatly outnumbered and outgunned. Despite the fact that the crew fought bravely and with honour, the KNF battleship fell. Whilst programming the ship’s computer to provide cover fire for the escape pods, Julian stayed behind and narrowly escaped himself.

Facing capture in the ice field of Tau 31, Julian was about to commit the ultimate act of suicide where he would die in honour. An unknown Zoner vessel came in range of the escape pod and tractored him in. That vessel was The AngelWing on a scientific mission. When the crew of The AngelWing discovered Julian in his escape pod, he was barely conscious due to the extremely low temperature of the ice field. They took care of him and accepted him as one of the crew. Julian showed his gratitude by lending his technical expertise to the crew.

Now a member of The AngelWing’s crew, Julian excels at pushing the ship to the limits and adapting to every possible dangerous situation. He is enthusiastic and persistent. When it comes down to combat, his skills at tweaking the ship’s weapons systems are undeniable. He is instrumental to The AngelWing’s survival.

Name: Chris Tigh

Age: 27

Position: Helms and Navigation

Chris was born on Planet New London, into a wealthy and powerful family. He was a rebellious and reckless teen who defied all the rules, driving all sorts of fast crafts and hovercrafts past midnight. Fortunately, his family status had always kept him out of trouble. However, when he was 18, he got into the wrong group. As a consequence, he was lured away from his family to face the bitter realities outside his home planet. Chris, as naïve as could be, foolishly trusted a gang of thugs and joined the Bounty Hunters.

A Bounty Hunter’s life was harsh for Chris. After only a few sorties, he was shot down by a bunch of pirates who left him for dead in space. Luckily for him, a Zoner patrol belonging to the nearby Freeport had rescued him and brought him back. This is where he met Marco.

At that time, Marco was performing a routine inspection on his ship and restocking supplies. The AngelWing was still operating with a minimum crew and no helmsman. He froze as he heard the new of a young Bounty Hunter had been brought on board. He knew the Bounty Hunters are well known for their exceptional piloting skills and lighting reflexes.

Marco went for the young Chris to recruit him. Chris, after losing his ship and being frowned upon by his fellow Bounty Hunter pilots, gladly accepted his offer and took up the position onboard The AngelWing as a newly appointed Helmsman and Navigator. Chris is energetic, playful and cheeky at times. But his talent at piloting The AngelWing is unmatched by any other crew.

Name: Cabulb Jr.

Age: N/A

Position: Artificial Intelligence

As A.I. technology slowly became more and more popular in The Sirius sector, Marco had decided to upgrade The AngelWing’s computer core into a more intelligent and adaptive personality. Cabulb Jr. was born. Cabulb Jr., named after Marco and Hailey’s family, was a joint project developed both by the Hailey Cabulb and Julian Yamato. Whilst Hailey designed the emotional responses and personality of the program, Julian coded its logical and algorithmic engine. The result was a partial success.

As the assistant of the crew’s daily tasks, Cabulb Jr. works perfectly and efficiently. However, there are times where it fails to process verbal commands and mistakes are made. After an incident where it mistook The AngelWing’s weapon systems for mining equipment and a nearby Samura depot as an asteroid, its authority was removed from the ship’s vital systems.

At times where the crew morale is low, Cabulb Jr. notices and organises activities which make everyone feel better. At times where The AngelWing is in crisis, Cabulb Jr. proves its eternal allegiance by encouraging and fighting alongside the crew.

The Zoners Trading Consortium

Although the ideals and goals of Marco remained the same as the previous captain - to explore, weeks and sometimes even months of constant isolation from the rest of the Sirius has taken its toll on The AngelWing's new crew. Frustration began to emerge from the bored crew while Marco demanded devotion to charting stars and only stopped to resupply and exchange goods in distant outposts. Tension grew as time went on and eventually escalated into a possible mutiny. Realising that the new crew is not so dedicated to exploration compared to his father's crew, Marco settled with a compromise.

The decision was made for The AngelWing and her crew to join the Zoners Trading Consortium, a respectable Zoner corporation emphasising on freedom of trade and deep space exploration.

The crew was thrilled, but Marco knows that he must sacrifice some freedoms and submit to authority as he signed the contract with Johann Boll, one of The Consortium's leaders. On the contrary to Marco's initial impression, the faction did not demand monietary tributes or place restrictive rules on The AngelWing. All they wanted was a promise, promise to defend fellow Zoners and their allies and repelling unknown threats to the Sirius. None of which Marco would refuse.

It was not long before Marco tasted the sweet advantages of being in an organised group. Access to valuable information was granted, more allies were made. Those of which would prove to be vital aids in his continuous pursuit of knowledge in the Edge Worlds as The AngelWing is now assigned to the Exploration and Research department of The Consortium.
