Neon is a very common element in the universe, but is extremely scarce in the Sirius sector, with its only known abundant source being Planet Erie in the Pennsylvania system. A colorless, inert noble gas under standard conditions, Neon gives a distinct reddish glow in vacuum discharge tubes and Neon lamps. It has a wide range of commercial applications, from lighting and high voltage indicators to its use in specialized lasers. It is most commonly used in its liquid form in cryogenic and refrigeration systems, and is in huge demand throughout the main Houses.
