In present days in Sirius Sector every fighter, freighter or bomber have a shield protecting against incoming fire, explosions and collision. In Sirius Sector, there are three types of shields used widely, each producing a field more effective against a particular type of weapons whilst being less effective against another type.

Positron

Positron shields generate an atomic field made of positrons, which quickly atomize the incoming bolt before it's damaging the hull. Because of this working principle, positron shields are less effective against bolts containing photon elements.

Graviton

Graviton shields generate strong, vibrating anti-gravitational fields which are deflecting the incoming bolts before they impact on the hull. Because of this working principle, graviton shields are less effective against "heavy" bolts like plasma.

Molecular

Molecular shields are based on special chemicals which are changing the properties and neutralizing the incoming bolts. Because of this working principle, molecular shields are less effective against chemically neutral bolts like Neutron weapons.
