aerelm's Feedback Thread

History snippet: Once upon a time, in the golden age of Disco also known as Discovery 4.85: Reunion, there was no technerf and mercs and lancers were kings of the hill. Characters needed permissions from official factions to use their technology, and that provided for some enjoyable and entertaining roleplay. With little to no limitations on tech use long as the official faction was ok with it, flying on a generic ID was pretty much a mix & match sort of deal.

Apart from a few odd characters in a few official factions, majority of my chars were running on generic IDs back in the day and were mainly focused on earning random tech permissions. So, apart from a few "properly developed" characters like aerelm, Saerieve, Schwarzengel and Shugotenshi, rest of the roleplay links you'll find below are mainly centered around the different lines of roleplay employed for different tech permissions back in 4.85.

Logs of in-game encounters* character has kept since 821 A.S. (2014 A.D.) which is stored as a back-up on his personal computer with no remote access possible. Existence of these logs is mainly to track character's in-game progress and generally plays no inRP role within character's stories.

  • "A Place they call 'Sirius'"

    • A Place they call 'Sirius'

A Place they call 'Sirius' is a logbook-type story of the character's progress on the server. It starts from the day I made the char on the server (i.e. the day I joined Disco) and the first few parts are basically some made-up RP justifications for a bunch of things I did back in my lolwut days. Then, the story moves forward, explaining how the character's general diplomacy toward different factions and houses was formed, and including some of the key events in the character's progress. That story is not frequently updated, but it's not finished either, as it goes on as the char continues to progress on the server.

The above links are the outline of the character's relation with the Jameson-era 101st, but since most of the roleplay between this character and the Jameson-era 101st happened in-game, none of the further long-lasting interactions with 101st have been documented on the forums.

    • The [C]ouncil & 'Guests' Mini-Event

Greed knows no limits is one of the character's ingame roleplays documented in form of a story on forums and a mini-event with [C]ouncil official faction. It centers around a mini-event arranged back in 4.85 to RP the char stealing a pair of Falcons, for the required tech permission. It was back when the character was flying a Sabre, and he switched back to debs a while later but is still in possession of those guns.

    • Encrypted Message to Administrator Perez of the 101st

Martino Perez, Leader of 101st at the time, offers aerelm a challenging task to steal a full set of functional Gladiator blueprints. This roleplay took place in late 4.86 and was the inRP justification behind the construction of Carabela, the 4.87 Outcast heavy fighter and its similarities in design to its Corsair counterpart. The planing of this story involved the then-leaders of [101st] and [TBH], and the roleplay itself also included a couple of other characters involved with Corsairs at the time.

After the Outcast civil war, aerelm returns to Alpha to claim his reward for retrieving Gladiator blueprints. Taking advantage of the chaotic condition of the Outcast government at the time, and knowing about the lack of communication between the two main factions in charge of the Nacion, he manages to claim two separate rewards, one from each group. While the Ghosts reward him with a villa on Malta, which formerly belonged to the infamous Logan Willows, the Lance update his previous technology permissions to a Rapier as well as unrestricted access to Outcast snubcraft weaponry.

Estefania Casta, administrator of the 101st, approaches aerelm with a new assignment. She requests aerelm to locate a researcher known as Katherine Pennybrooke and bring her back to the 101st flagship as soon as possible. aerelm accepts the assignment, and the search takes him from Outcast territory to deep Omicrons and later to the edge of Omegas, but soon as he manages to finally locate Pennybrooke, she leaves borderworlds and heads toward house space, with aerelm in pursuit.

During his search for Pennybrooke in deep Omicrons, aerelm encounters a Liberty Security Forces operative using the alias of Ryan Bishop, who also happens to be in search of Pennybrooke as part of an assignment given to him by a member of the 101st command. Even though aerelm denies any knowledge of Pennybrooke or any assignment given to him by the 101st, he agrees to help Bishop due to mutual interest, and in return for locating Pennybrooke and arranging a meeting with her for Bishop, asks for a functional Avenger fighter and its full set of blueprints.

After getting his hands on various set of blueprints for different ships, aerelm decides to do his own share of experimenting with ship designs, and so contacts Marco Santoro, the head of Santoro famiglia, which he had done business with before their involvement with Contari Lance, and offers him a deal in return for access to their facilities, connections and manpower. Once the necessary arrangements are made, aerelm contacts three individuals to assist him in designing the ship: A Freelance engineer, Jessica Snow, to lead the engineering team working on the design. A Gaian who's known for his race gear enhancements, Clockwork Evans, to design the engine of the ship. And owner of the Narcotic, Lee Verde, for his past experience in the area.

Designing and construction of the vessel takes place on Cartagena Shipyard in Omicron-81, basing the initial designs off the Roc bomber and then incorporating elements from Avenger, Gladiator and Rapier, which after a run of trial and error results in a ship that can be classified as a Super Heavy Fighter. During the construction, Junker Marauders are contracted to supply the engineering team and the Junker Congress to ship in the parts and material required for the actual construction of the ship.

Deciding to regain his faded foothold in the Omegas, due to being occupied with construction of the Obsidian for nearly a year, aerelm moves back to Hessian zone of influence, only to realize after retirement of Major Hoest - the main person within the army aerelm collaborated with - all records of his past work with the army, including his conditional access to Hessian technology, is lost and so attempts to resolve the situation with the new leadership.

Following the deal aerelm had with Silver during the Gladiator blueprints story arc, Silver contacts aerelm demanding her 'payment', which was agreed to be an 'off the books' access to a Rapier outfitted with Outcast weaponry. Having earned unrestricted access to the same from the Lance, aerelm considers it no problem and decides to keep to his word and provide Silver with the ship and equipment.

Having been jaded to flying his own custom-built ship and trying to find the same adrenaline rush again, aerelm takes it one step too far and decides to achieve the image of the "perfect human" for no reason other than to satisfy his own ego. He contacts Doktor Joseph Krieger, an individual bound to no moral standards, to have an extensive and unusual range of cybernetic enhancements applied to his body.

Feeling nostalgic about all the places he hasn't been able to visit since ending up on the wrong side of the law, aerelm plans to visit Mactan and purchase a fake lawful ID to be able to land on lawful planets again, but as a "cheaper alternative" presents itself, he decides to instead steal the identity of a loner Junker he's come across.

      • Special Operative ID

The permission, which is essentially a hybrid of freelancer and pirate ID, allows the character to act as a law-abiding freelancer in regions he has no criminal background in, or as either an unlawful freelancer or an independent pirate in regions where he either has unlawful ties or has committed unlawful acts in the past.

      • "Obsidian" Unique Ship

A Roc bomber turned into a super heavy fighter, the "Obsidian" was approved as a unique ship for the character following the "Protagonistic Tendencies" story arc. The ship's firepower is comparable to a Werewolf, while trading off the standard defensive capabilities of the super heavy fighter class for better agility and handling.
