Brushes done properly are awesome.
Brushes used too much is a way of saying : I don't know anything else in photoshop, so I'm resorting to brushspam to make it look like I'm doing something good.

Eh, it's not about how good you are in photoshop, but rather how you criticize others in relation to your own stuff.
It was Techbrushed. Is it bad now? And eh, it's actually a mix of a Techbrushes and self made Patterns.

Brushes are in .abr, I don't know if Gimp is using the same Type. Or what Type Gimp is using. If a different, someone of us might be able to help you.

I got 1 downloaded .abr from dev art ;d , No idea how to install through.
Gimp might use a different format so I'm not too sure about it.
Try to look for a folder called "brushes" under your root install directory and put your files into it. Then restart your application.
