History
In 810 AS, John Carter was assigned as the commander of the OCV-Trident, a newly constructed Osiris battleship. Armed to the teeth with high performance weapon systems and 4x strength armor hull, along with one of the best scanner systems available in Sirius. After commanding the Trident for a few months, John went to the secondary fleet headquarters to do a bit of research. What he found was that there was no fast response force capable of initiating strikes on short notice. After this revelation, John took it upon himself to create the 63rd Order Expeditionary Force, a fighter and bomber wing stationed aboard the Trident as a force recon and fast response unit, reporting directly to high command but being independent enough to operate without the various restrictions the primary fleet has.
In 816 AS, During Operation Thunder Storm, an operation into Liberty dropping a squadron of marines via a disguised transport into Manhattan's atmosphere, the Trident and its fighter escort where caught in a crossfire between two navy dreadnoughts, cutting off the Tridents escape route. Captain Carter ordered the fighter patrols to focus fire on one of the dreadnoughts, while the Trident opened fire on the second. Within five minutes, The Trident had finished off one of the dreadnoughts, but a slightly damaged second dreadnought continued to fire on the Trident. Weakened, the Trident continued to fight, and after a gruesome battle, the second dreadnought succumbed to the firepower of the Trident and the fighter wings. Crippled, the Trident on the verge of destruction, limped away from Manhattan's orbit to begin field repairs, and prepare the ship for the travel back to Omicron 100, where it would be stuck in drydock for almost two years. During the two years, the various officers where reassigned to different parts of the order, some moving to the primary fleet, some staying in the secondary fleet.
In 818 AS, Daniel Marshal was appointed captain of the newly repaired Trident, and taking on command of the near defunct 63rd Order Expeditionary Force. Daniel quickly noticed the potential of the 63rd, and begun restructuring the force into what it is now. After restructuring the Unit, he began to recruit the best and brightest the Order secondary fleet had to offer, hand picking them for optimal mission readiness.
Notable Operations
Operation Thunder Storm
Commanding officer: John Carter
Operation plan: Extract a high level order spy from Manhattan
Summary: Trident jumped into New York from the Texas Jump hole, and proceeded to the RV point with a exfiltration craft designed as a common repair ship. While the marine fireteams where on the ground securing the undercover agent, a patrol of Navy guardians spotted trident and immediately called for backup. Soon the Trident and her fighter patrols where facing a pair of Navy Dreadnoughts, and assorted fighter craft. Carter, knowing that he was outnumbered, but the mission must take priority, decided to stand and fight. Directing the fighters to swarm the first dreadnought, allowing the Trident to focus on the second without taking double the fire than it could dish out. After a long battle, the Navy warships perished, but the trident was heavily damaged, and John Carter was killed by a stray supernova that smacked into the bridge. While the operation was classified a success, the Trident would be in repairs for over 2 years.
Operation Hammer Down
Commanding officer: Daniel Marshal
Operation plan: surgically strike navy warships in Alaska.
Summary: Departing after a High Command order to begin return strikes on navy strongholds after a wave of counter attacks into Omicron Minor, the 63rd set out with one goal in mind. Destruction of naval assets in Alaska. After launch, all Hammer Bomber wing elements launched and began scouting for viable targets. What they found was a slightly damaged and malfunctioning Carrier, which was quickly destroyed by The Trident and Hammer Wing. After a day of intense Fighting, the 63rd had racked up a kill list consisting of 4 Dreadnoughts, a pair of carriers, and tens of fighters, while losing only one bomber and no personnel.
Equipment and List of Ships
The 63rd Order Expeditionary Force uses a variety of order and civilian ships, depending on the mission at hand.
The Nephthys is one of the main Fighter platforms for the 63rd, as the powercore is able to handle the high amount of fire that it can generate.
Pilots use the Nephthys when maneuverability is less important than amount of fire that it can bring down on a foe.
The Bastet is a new prototype fighter made by the Order, and it quickly found popularity in the 63rd due to the high maneuverability and smaller profile. It has the ability to mount 6 Class 10 weapons, but that ability is countered by the fact that the Bastet's powercore is limited.
The Sekhmet bomber is the main bomber and is used exclusively for Hammer Wing. Hammer wing alone has racked in 50 plus confirmed kills in the 20 years they have existed as part of the 63rd.
There is only one battleship in the 63rd as of 818AS, the home of the 63rd. The Trident was commissioned in 807AS, completed in 810AS, loaded with heavy armor plating and top notch armaments and sensor systems. throughout the years, the Trident has undergone many upgrades and refits, ranging from minor replacements to major overhauls in the engine and fire control systems. The Trident is armored with a 4x hull armor plating, and outfitted with enough guns to repel any attack.
