Sorry if this sounds stupid, but why is it named after an orange? Granted, satsuma oranges are delicious, but mandarins are better. Or is it named after something perhaps a bit less well known?--AndreDelArco 17:52, 11 November 2009 (MST)

It probably comes from the Imperial Battleship of the same name, although there are plenty of other Satsumas, including Satsuma Province (etc). Check out - www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satsuma
