Talk:Ship fitting

From Discovery Wiki

I think this might not be an appropriate page for this Discovery wiki. Reasons:

  • There is much written from a subjective point of view.
  • Much of it is repeating other information already available on the wiki or if common sense is followed.
  • Lots of words about nothing. I actually don't read anything that adds to a new or veteran player's experience. And some of it is misleading. Thrusters do not drain energy, they drain thruster power. There is no relation between the two.
  • Introduces new terms (EHP, EVE, speed tanking, omni tanking, hit points, fleeter,
  • Mentioning EVE or other games just doesn't seem to fit, in Discovery. EVE does not equal Discovery. Mention EVE and you start making people think like EVE. The game mechanics are completely different, what you can do in them are different, and the ship loadouts and specialisations are different. I just do not see why EVE needs to be mentioned at all.
  • I would prefer to see pages written more formally on the Discovery Wiki. "Snappy", "concise", "informative" are the keys to successful Wiki's. This page wanders with many different points to make, and misses all of them at the same time.

I suggest either: rewriting the info, be more concise. Or Deleting the page as it currently does not add anything, nor teaches anything of value. Chovynz 19:21, 20 June 2009 (MDT)

Generally I have to agree. Honestly I didnt read the whole article when i suggested it be put here, but it seemed like a good start at least. It does not some major editing and needs to be broken up into separate articles. Good examples of this kind of article can be found in the Flight Tactics section. I think dividing it by ship type would be a good idea. Tazuras 19:41, 20 June 2009 (MDT)

Yes, I just skimmed it and I didnt understand any of it. "Omni-tanking"? "EHP"? What the heck? Either give this a rewrite or just delete it in my opinion. Joe-the-LPI 15:25, 3 August 2009 (MDT)
