The Tech Chart is a chart where you can find all technology usage rules in one place.
Instructions for using the chart
Note: This is not an official statement of the rules or policies at Discovery GC, it is merely a reproduction. The Discovery Freelancer RP 24/7 Server admin team will ONLY use the Official Guidelines of Technology Use, Ships / Weapons / IDs and therefore it is the players responsibility to be sure he/she uses the latest version of the Official Guidelines of Technology Use. Excuses like "But I am allowed to use this or that one on the wiki!" will not be considered if the Tech-Chart on this forum says otherwise. For the Official Guidelines of Technology Use please see the pinned section of the Discovery RP 24/7 Rules Forum at DiscoveryGC.
General Guidelines
- Player factions may conduct diplomacy with other player factions to open up technology sharing in red cells of the chart. These must be approved as Special Requests prior to implementation. If the player faction represents the entire npc faction, then the technology sharing applies to anyone with the npc faction affiliation, otherwise it only applies to the player faction.
- Technology from factions that are hostile to each other may not be combined. For example, a Mercenary cannot use Bretonian weaponry on a Kusari ship. Also, technology cannot be used if it belongs to a faction that is hostile to your IFF/Tag. For example, a Mercenary with a Bretonian IFF/Tag cannot use any Kusari technology. IDs that are only granted by the Admininstration may allow these hostile combinations, if approved (Terrorist ID, Special Operative ID, etc).
Using the Chart
- To use the chart, choose your ID in one of the rows, and follow the row across to the column that the ship or weapon that you are interested in belongs to.
- If the infocard states that the ship/weapon is not sold outside the faction, then no one without that faction ID may use it.
- To determine which faction a ship or weapon belongs to, first read the infocard of the ship/weapon. If the infocard states the faction owner of the technology, then that may be all you need to know. If the infocard does not state faction ownership, then the technology may be considered to "belong" to the owner of any base where the technology is sold, even if that means it "belongs" to multiple factions. However, technology belonging to factions that are hostile to each other cannot be combined.
- In all cases, characters may purchase and use ships and weapons that are sold on bases that belong to the same faction as their faction ID regardless of color coding.
Using Mactan Network
- If you are in a Official faction, Select your Faction in the first dropdown box, then the Ship Type and Class to see what is available for that ship as that faction
- If you are not a Official faction, Click on the "Official" Buttun to change it to Independent, and select Ship Type and Class
- This is kept almost as updated as the charts above, and it is a little more user-friendly for that that don't want to sift through a spreadsheet.
