Lyon is a planet in many ways similar to Orleans. Its discovery in 119 A.G.S. raised questions about the possibility of early sentient interference, in order to introduce similar carbon life forms and similar climatic conditions on those planets. Despite the fact that Lyon, New Paris and Orleans are located only several light years away from each other, and all proved habitable for humans without any terraforming, no remnant of alien presence was found on the planet.
Lyon is different compared to the aforementioned planets, here life has taken longer to evolve within the same time frame. The planet is dominated by a class of species very similar to Earth mammals. Most of Lyon's animals are relatively small, with the largest being not much larger than a human. Imported cows are currently the heaviest terrestrial animals present on the planet. Lyon is one of the most lucrative places for hunting in Gallia. Animals are abundant, not threatened by pollution or overpopulation, and hunting is allowed almost everywhere, with licenses forming a notable amount of income for local communities.
Colonization of Lyon started in 286 A.G.S. . Unlike the ad-hoc colonization of previous planets, it was a well-prepared enterprise that transferred over a million people to the planet after construction crews had prepared basic housing and infrastructure to receive them. The population has grown steadily since that date, up to 1.1 billion people at the last count, which makes it makes it the third most populated planet in Gallic space. The population growth has been slowing down during the last 80 years due to somewhat high unemployment rates around the planet, and nowadays it is projected that the population will start declining in the next 10 or 20 years if the trend continues. Lyon does not possess any heavy industries. Most of the planet's economy revolves around agriculture, light industry and petrochemical industries.
Croix-Rousse Landing Site
With Presqu'ile mainly used for cargo shipments, Croix-Rousse is the primary civilian space port of Planet Lyon. Most independent Shippers, civilian Liners, and [[Freelancers}} use Croix-Rousse as the docking port of choice. The place is also used for exporting diamonds, as well as certain high-tech and medical items.

Presqu'ile Landing Site
Presqu'ile is a major docking and cargo handling area where most cargo shipments to and from Planet Lyon are commonly processed. The Presqu'ile urban area is also located not far from the planet's primary underwater oil deposits, although extraction of the deposits are relatively costly at Lyon.
