Early Life & Education
Reginald was born in 778 AS on Planet Cambridge to Jessica and Neville Hartford, who were both professors at Cambridge Research Institute. Jessica worked as the assistant to the chair of the Phlebotomy department, Neville as a tenured professor of chemical engineering, and they were able to provide many of life's luxuries to the young Reginald. He was enrolled in the Institute-sponsored private schools for all of his pre-collegiate years, and found himself becoming interested in medicine as he learned more about it. The status of his parents provided him with the best tutoring available, and he was able to maintain a very solid GPA all through his studies, giving him a leg up on his eventual medical school applications.
At age 18 he was accepted into the biology program at CRI and decided to enroll, much to the delight of his parents both because of the prestige and the fact that their employment by the same parent university gave them a significant discount on the tuition. Reginald, or Reggie to his friends by this point, studied diligently and completed all his coursework in 3 years, and quickly applied to and was accepted by the medical school at CRI in 801 AS. Still enjoying human medicine he worked towards his M.D. in pathology, but upon seeing in the news all the events of the Nomad War that had happened around him, he also began taking courses in xenobiology.
In 806 AS Reginald received his doctorate and after 3 more years of interning at hospitals was licensed to practice throughout Bretonia. It was always a concern of his that mankind had been living on terraformed planets for 800 years and was still suffering from ailments caused by native organisms, which is where he focused the majority of his research, and primarily saw patients suffering from these types of conditions. He quickly rose in prominence through his extensive work and insightful new treatments for these diseases, drawing considerable notice from Cryer Pharmaceuticals.
Employment at Cryer
In 814 AS Reginald was approached by Cryer and offered a job overseeing the researchers already in their employ who were trying to develop medication in that area. Reggie excitedly took the position, and under his direction the research groups picked up their pace, fielding 73 new drugs in 815, all custom-tailored for diseases found on the inhabited planets of Bretonia and Liberty. Upper management was suitably impressed, which led to his quick ascension up the corporate ladder and into favor of the bigwigs.
Today Reginald keeps his offices on Cambridge Research Station, still overseeing the same research groups and looking for cures, but his corporate favor has led to more time off and freedom to travel around Sirius to observe alien organisms wherever he wishes. His 817 year-end bonus included a Democritus Luxury Yacht, which he outfitted with fully functional medical bays and laboratories, allowing him to travel well off the public space lanes. This ship has been sighted mostly traveling between Cryer research areas, though he prefers to stay out of normal patrol paths because of past misunderstandings by law enforcement vessels about some of the contents of his research bays and their subsequent attempts to confiscate materials vital to his work that had all been legally acquired...
