Biography

Born an only child Sylvio was the son of a middle classed family living on planet Quillan after the Council had liberated it from the Gallic Metal Service and Gallic Royal Police. Fortunate for Sylvio his father was one of the many miner families that lived there and was not killed with the rest of the GRP. His life was pretty normal growing up apart from the fact that all around him was constant war, which he vowed never to take arms in. When Sylvio was 18 he had purchased his first ship which was a used MoonBeam Gallic civilian light fighter. He quickly put a couple of mining guns on it and used it to mine the vast deposits of Copper ore to make some money. He had always been a good saver when it came to credits, he always had no less then 50,000 in his neural-net account which he kept for hard times. When Sylvio was 20 he had heard some Council guys talking about this place called "Sirius", he was so intrigued by it that he did a little research into it. He quickly found out from one of the Council guys at the local bar that it was only a short trip away and it had all sorts of interesting things. Sylvio quickly hopped into his MoonBeam punched in the coordinates of a system called "Orkney" and hit the afterburners taking off with such speed his scanner was damaged. But Sylvio was unaware of this and kept flying for this new land. He had to pass through treacherous mine fields but was able to reach Orkney safely. But he didn't stop there he went in search of other places and eventually found a jump hole. Since his technology was from Gallia he had no knowledge of where he was going. He said a quick prayer and commenced jump drives and hoped for the other side to be safe. Surely it was and he was quickly off in search of any life. He did meet a few Bretonians but was limited on his communications with them since he only had known a small amount of English. They quickly sped off though thinking that he was drunk because of his speech. Sylvio ignored it and continued his journey into this unknown territory. He had been through a few jump holes now when he realized his scanner was damaged and he wasn't able to find his way back. He was also low on H-fuel and decided to take a look a round in the system he was in for any bases. But first he had to find his way out of the current nebula he was in, which was like a white mist. He had been emerging from the nebula when he noticed a planet off in the far, which he immediately set course to. After about 40 kilometers he had reached the docking ring which said "Welcome to Gran Canaria". Have only fumes left he made a hasty emergency landing and got out of his MoonBeam and took a look around at this huge colony bustling with life all around. He found a near by bar and quickly went to go withdraw some credits out of his neural-net account to pay for some H-fuel and coordinates back to Gallia. He soon found out Gallic credits were worth nothing in Sirius and he found himself stranded. He went to the water fountain took a drink and sat down on a stool. He thought to himself "What am I going to do? How am I going to get back home?" and started thinking long and hard. He was soon greeted by a clean-shaven man who sat down next to him and offered him a drink. The man said "I'm Charles, you got a name?" But Sylvio had a difficult time understanding him and quickly flipped through his French-English dictionary and replied with "My name is Sylvio, I am from Gallia." The man smiled and said "You got pretty good English for a Gallian" I'm a Zoner and this a Zoner planet your on, we tend to be peaceful with everyone in Sirius. They had a simple conversation about what Zoners are and were enjoying a few beers when the man asked him about his financial situation. When Sylvio told him what happened Charles just said "How would you like to work for the Zoner Trade Consortium?". You can throw your old life away and start a fresh one in Sirius. Sylvio immediately jumped on the offer. Charles was delighted to see this and said "Welcome aboard, be here at 7 am tomorrow, and here's a few thousand credits to get yourself a nice hotel for the night". Charles then got up and left the bar, while Sylvio just sat there and started thinking "What have I got myself into?"...

Planet Quillan A mining colony was established on Quillan in 699 A.S., when easily accessible deposits of copper and other metal ores were found on the planet's surface. For a long time, the Gallic Metal Service was administering the colony with the help of Gallic Police and smaller shipment companies from Gallia. Despite rising pirate acitivity in Languedoc, Quillan mining operations proved to be profitable, and resource extraction on the planet was rising until the beginning of the Second Gallic War.

In the end of 815 A.S., a large Council fleet has breached through Quillan's orbital defenses. The Council armed forces landed on the planet in attempt to gain control of the mining operations. Gallic Army regiments stationed on planet's surface resisted the invaders, but after many months of fierce fighting the Council troops gained the upper hand. The victory was ensured by both numerical superiority of the Council and by the support of local miners who were inspired by the success of Marne rebellion.
